Tell me about the Paul George/Granger situation, do you want Granger traded and if so for who.

I don't want him traded, I don't think we'd get equal value. George would be a good fit next to any wing including Granger.

But I think it could happen for money reasons. There's no problem right now, but there could be a problem with Granger's next contract. Paul George will probably get max, David West will probably get some 12 mil a year. Hibbert's at max, George Hill's at 8 mil. It will be very tough to resign Granger. So they might trade him instead of letting him walk.

Personally, I'd rather see Hibbert traded. Like, I'd take Asik in a blink. Not that I think Asik is a better player, Hibbert has been playing with an injured shooting wrist, he's much better than Asik on offense when healthy. But that salary difference would help a lot.

One wild card is the tax line. Stern's revenue projections imply that the tax should go up by some 3-4 mil this year. If that happens and then there's another jump next year, it maybe gives the Pacers enough room to keep Granger.

    Here is one idea:

    Houston gets:
    Chris Bosh

    Miami gets
    Omer Asik
    Chandler Parsons

Why Houston does is: with Chris Bosh they get their second star, a true floor spacer, great rebounder and decent defender.

Why Miami does it: they are in cap hell and Chris Bosh is making a lot of money the next years. With Asik they get a defensive big that doesn't need the ball in his hands. With Parsons they get a bargain contract they really need - he could play next to LeBron and go back and forth as PF and SF.

Would I do it: I am not 100% sold since I really like Parsons and Asik. But I think you have to do it for that second star - stars are so much harder to get than good role players....

This deal would've been possible if the Heat didn't win the title last season.

Ahhh, now i think i remember...

Quite a coincidenence because the other day i was talking to a friend of mine about the pierce situation in boston... and while i think he will stay in boston i immediatly thought a trade to indy would make them a serious threat with his experience and.clutchness...

Now i havent done any trade checking but i think a trade around pierce/granger would work perfectly for both sides...

Boston needs to rebuild and granger is a younger player who could play with rondo for years to come...

Indy could use pierces experience... also there is questions surrounding his.injury... i know they are against the cap but his.contract is.not.fully guarenteed...

    Your thougjhts donatas?

Interesting. The main question is will Pierce stick around.

It's an upgrade and he seems to age well, and I assume he'll be cheaper to resign, so I like this deal. But what if he retires or decides that he wants to play in a bigger city for less money. The Pacers would have to put out some feelers.

Swapping them would be easy. Pierce has a much better vision, but they are similar in a lot of ways. Pierce would fit right in. And Granger would fit in with the Celtics. They even have similar cocky-tough acts that annoy a lot of people but I think it's very valuable.

I believe that yes, Indiana would make this trade, and they would simply buy out Paul Pierce after the season (there is a $4 mil buyout).

I think that it's important to note that WHOEVER has Paul Pierce in June is going to buy him out for $4 mil. Pierce is simply not even close to being able to earn a $15.3 mil salary next season. The man turns 36 in October. 36! Boston's best chance at competing for a championship this season is to flip Pierce for a good but overpriced player whose team is looking to cut costs. Danny Granger is a good candidate for this reason.

Danny Ainge made some extremely poor decisions this past offseason, by the way. Jeff Green will not come close to earning a four-year, $35-$36 mil contract. Courtney Lee will not come close to earning a four-year, $21 mil contract. Brandon Bass likely will not come close to earning a three-year, $20 mil contract. I don't know what the hell he was thinking. He is typically a pretty cool customer.

As a bench move I think J.J. Redick would be a good addition... Instant upgrade over Douglas. Could even push Lin for a lot of playing time.

My sentiments exactly... idk i guess he was trying to lock up solid role players for one last run... but they should flip pierce... they ahould flip garnett, and make a decision on whether they wanna build around rondo... personally i would trade him and build around someone who can actually carry a team potentially...

i also think granger is now expendable in when he returns. I wont be surprised if he is on the block at deadline or this summer. Paul george is their future

KG got no-trade in his contract so he's safe, but I'm sure Ainge would flip anyone else in a right deal.

    Trade 1
POR out: Hickson, '13 1st, Freeland, Barton
    POR in: Asik, T.Jones
    - Asik is ideal next to LA.

    HOU out: Asik, T.Jones
    HOU in: J.Smith

    ATL out: J.Smith
ATL in: Hickson, POR 1st, Barton, Freeland
    - Gets younger, and a pick for Smith, who's bound to leave.

    Trade 2
    ORL out: Afflalo
    ORL in: Lin, Patterson, Honeycutt
    - Gets a fan-fave in Lin, and a solid 4.

    HOU out: Lin, Motiejunas, Patterson
    HOU in: Cousins, Salmons

    SAC out: Cousins, Salmons, Honeycutt
    SAC in: Afflalo, Motiejunas
    - Gets a steady 2 and a high-upside 4 for Cousins and sheds Salmons' deal.

    Trade 3
    LAC out: Butler, Bledsoe, Odom
    LAC in: Gay

    HOU out: Morris, '14 1st
    HOU in: Bledsoe

MEM in: Butler, Odom, '14 1st
    MEM out: Gay
    - Could get another pick thrown in, but get a big exp in Odom, plus drop Gay's deal, plus get a pick/starting 3.

    Cousins
    J.Smith
    Parsons
    Harden
    Bledsoe

(Now we'd just need a bench)

Houston cannot trade the 2014 1st round pick. The Houston's first round pick from 2013 to 2017 belongs to Atlanta conditionally. It's top 14 protected. That means until Atlanta gets Houston's 1st round pick, you are not free to trade it to anyone else in the time span of 2013 to 2017. Since in any of those years, Atlanta may claim Houston's 1st round pick if it falls outside of the top 14 protection. You can't trade Houston's first round pick to someone else if you've already promised it to Atlanta from 2013 to 2017 and they can collect in any of those years, whenever Houston falls outside the top 14 protection.

I think whatever trade Morey cooks up, I'm behind. He clearly knows a WHOLE lot more about the players out there than we do. I do wish we could get Dragic back though. I would trade him for Lin straight up right now if possible. With Phoenix not going anywhere this year and probably not next year either, I wonder if they would be open to a deal. Lin does have the marketability that Dragic does not. Only thing is, Dragic's deal has that player option at the end which was a no go for Morey. Oh well, one can dream.

I don't think so. Not much better per minute and a worse defender. Strictly a backup for Harden. Can't spell Lin at PG.

None the less tho its a good idea, because he lights it up from 3 and we could def use another since our team lives and dies by the 3... also, we have no real backup for harden and no depth at sg... j.j. would fit nicely...

But what would it cost? Hes got a 6mill expiring(which is something morey should like)... is he worth the salary we would have to send out?

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ctau27p

Houston sends ppat/aldrich to orlando for redick/2nd...

Houston gains a 3pt specialist and an extra 6mill expiring, along with a 2nd...

Orlando sheds salary while gaining an expiring C they can see if they wannna keep around and a young solid pf in ppat...
