Our style is very different from the Spurs. Just take a look at the shot charts: Spurs has a lot more mid-range game than us!

I think Mchale is doing a good job off the court, just not on the court. He only have 4 years' experience as a head couch though...
Spurs have one of/the best PF ever to look to in the post. They also have a HOF'er in Gino and another all-star in TP, wake me up when Mchale has all that to work with.
McHale needs to understand that if Delfino is cold AND getting killed on the boards, he needs to substitute Asik (or Patterson or Morris, or anyone else) for Delfino.
agree with this for sure....delfino is either hot or he's not. when he's hot the rox are unbeatable. when he's not, he is a serious liability because he doesn't recognize nor care to recognize when he's not. he's a straight jacker. green burned him so bad on that sick dunk tonight....
our bigs really need to go to finish at the basket school. imagine how deadly the rox PnR game would be with a big who can finish at the basket. i just want someone who can finish an alley-oop is that too much to ask? as it is the best PnR combo is when JL picks for harden and vice versa. mchale is doing the best he can with what he's got. he's got the right overall idea and strategy for the team--high pace, move the ball, etc. and he's settled into a good overall rotation. but he still makes poor IN GAME decisions and sticks with a single strategy. no Xs and Os whatsoever. so few well designed set plays.
If it's a close game in the 4th and McHale as to make some adjustments, AVERT YOUR EYES! The guy seems to have no clue how to sub players late in the game and will often stick with a line-up for far too long. Tonight being a prime example. Douglas and the 2nd unit brought us back in the game. Celts go on a mini-run and bring the lead back to 6. McHale calls a time-out and, quite obviously, he should sub back in the starters. Does he do that? NOPE. Same got damned line-up. He does this CONSTANTLY and it is the single most MADDENING THING THAT HE DOES IF A TEAM GOES ON A RUN AND YOU CALL A TIME OUT DON'T COME BACK WITH THE SAME LINE-UP YOU DOPE. Gah, that gets me going.
When the 3's aren't falling, PP and MM can't stretch the floor, why don't we put Smith at 4 and let our guards penetrate and pass to Smith? At least with Smith and Asik on the floor we will out rebound the other team.
perhaps you'd like to defend why harden and lin don't get any screens while mcfail watches garnett and pierce screen for rondo every other time down the court. :grin:
Fire McHale? Play DMo more? Is this a joke? McHale is doing a great job with a young team. Maybe, just maybe he isn't running the optimal play calling to win every possession. But it's more important now to let these plays have some rope so they can improve their skills. Otherwise we can hire Avery Johnson to call a play every time down the floor.
ESPECIALLY when guys like TD and delfino are coincidental members of the lineup that played well. they both had poor games. you come back with the starters because that gives you the best chance to win.
my #1 beef with mchale is that when harden is resting, and JL and TD are on the floor, TD plays point and JL goes to the baseline and stands there. W. T. F. is that? it's r****ded is what it is, PERIOD.
McHale is doing fine. Can't panic over a couple Ls one things like about the team is that they don't quit. Down big, they always make it interesting. Rarely have they been blown out and looked overmatched. Pretty good for a youngteam in their first yr together
That's due to the fact that they have Duncan and Splitter, while we have Morris and Asik. The plays are similar, lots PnRs, penetration by guards, stretching the floor, lots of running fast breaks, etc. Watch them play each other, and it's like looking at the same coach coaching both teams.
I agree with the percentage of penetration by the guards. However, MM plays few PnRs. Also we use PnR in a different way especially on how the PnR is set and what the players do after a PnR. I am not saying we should fire Mchale based on a few games. I am just saying that his on court decisions especially time outs are average in NBA.
