Williams sounds good _ but with K Love continuously being injured Minnesota will probably hold on to him.

So trying to get the best point guard on the planet is funny to you...???

May not get him but it would be a dumb move if they didn't try...

Yea I am familiar with how they do things.

1.) Pat will be restricted, not unrestricted. Bud was unrestricted because he was a 2nd round pick.

2.) You have no idea if they will match offers he gets or not. It likely depends on what kind of deal he is offered externally and what sort of money ball value they have added to it. This is likely what happened with Lee as well. I am sure they would have loved to keep Lee at 2-3 million dollars, maybe even 4-5 if they knew Harden was going to be here and it was time to start adding long term pieces instead of collecting trade able assets. Also, we got a second round pick out of the Lee trade which is more valuable than a late lottery due to the salary rules.

This is not a good draft to have picks in. Patterson is more valuable than a late round first. We are already roster capped with prospects already. Having yet another pick is going to create problems.

Meh, thats a reach. He is a very serviceable big.

Trading a rotation player + another piece (yet to be defined) for an unknown is just silly. It reduces your asset base, not grow it.

History has shown (Camby, Lee) that you can get second round picks for these deals which are more valuable than late 1st rounders. You are throwing away pieces to get an unnatractive piece.

Its better to just make the playoffs and relieve the obligation.

With Patrick Beverley in the fold, I think Douglas is movable, even if we don't get a PG in return.

He was probably referring to the "2nd best player is 32" part.

Of course he is. Beverley or not Beverley, who cares about Douglas in a deal like this.

But it makes no sense for the Wolves.

Well, J Crawford is 32 and this year he's the 2nd best player on that team.. Just my opinion tho...

    Where did Blake Griffin go?

Anyway, your post basically sounded like CP3 may leave because of age around him. So I guess that's what looked weird.

I have an unfavorable view of Rip Hamilton ever since he was one of the veterans to lead a freeze-out of their coach in Detroit, and then when he pulled a Royce White and just stopped showing up to try to force a buyout on his contract. Those post-championship Pistons teams were awful, and Hamilton was a big part of the problem.

Hamilton is worth less than a Rockets' first-rounder. I think he ends up in Cleveland instead in exchange for virtually nothing. Jeremy Pargo and filler, or something similar.

Yea, Blake.. Can't lob and dunk your way to a championship.

And yes, age around him. Besides Blake, the best young talent on that team is the back up point guard and besides CP there is no true super star player on that team.

CP is not coming off his rookie contract so it's not like he's desperate for the money. I just think he may pull a L. James move...

Yes he is. But he's still not a super star player. Do you think so..??? I watch their games and from what I have seen the reason they have been doing so good is because of CP and J. Crawford.

And if CP stays in L.A. the clippers will have over $200 million tied into two players.

I don't actually think the Rockets can get him but nothing wrong with trying.

But regardless, I still think the Rockets need a perimeter player instead of a big name power forward.

History is useless here. Starting with the coming off-season, sign and trade rules will be different. Last summer was your last chance to do the Camby/Lee type of sign-and-trade deals. The Camby/Knicks and Lee/Celtics deals would not have been allowed if it happened in summer 2013 instead of summer 2012. Different rules apply that are more restrictive. The potential pool of trade partners drops significantly due to the new restrictions scheduled to come into effect soon. That smaller pool means that the market for Camby/Lee sign-and-trade for 2nd rounders dries up and those type of deals become much more rare due to the new restrictions. You can't use history to predict future patterns when the rules and restrictions surrounding the situation change.

Yea, same thing I was told last off season when I gave my opinion that the Rockets should try to trade for Harden instead of Howard.

But its several players out there who would help. I'm just not a moralist and don't judge people by their previous mistakes.

No offense. But what intelligent rebuttal did you expect? What you said was simply nonsensical. ....Jamaal Crawford is better than Blake Griffin, Blake Griffin is just lobs and dunks....
You either somehow managed to not watch any Clippers games over the last 3 years, or you completely ignored what was going on, or more likely you simply dislike Blake Griffin in an extremely excessive way.

You are talking about a guy with quite well rounded game. He has probably the most effective drop step in the game, good handles, great spin moves, power, a jump shot that he's improved every year, good passing, good rebounding, his D is getting solid. The guy likes to finish with a dunk. Big deal.

If you are going to ignore all those things, then you might go ahead and dismiss Shaq too.

Sign and trades may go down some with teams over the luxury tax apron and inability for players to get more through a sign and trade, but there will still be many teams over salary cap and under luxury tax apron. I fully expect sign and trades to be frequent. I also expect a lot more unguaranteed and partial guaranteed contracts in future to help teams with trades, and sign and trades.
