Don't like Charlie V's $8mil/yr for 2 years. Love Channing Frye in our system but given his health issues, i'll pass. ($6mil/yr for 3 years). We need to stay flexible with our cap.

No the 1 and 3 ... and 2 isn't consistent enough and probably not available.

That last point is important. The hawks may only own 1 Rockets pick, but when it comes to the Rockets' trading ability, the Rockets are essentially multiple picks short right now.
It also saves some cap space.

And the draft isn't so bad in the middle, it's interesting, it just looks bad at the top at the moment. It reminds of the Rondo draft -- a bunch of interesting players, but they all seem raw or limited or with question marks. The best player might very well be drafted out of the lottery.

I could definitely see an argument for that trade from the Rockets perspective. If Patterson's not the long term answer, and he's already missed 40 games in his short career, maybe this is the best time to cash in.

I wouldn't love it for the Hawks, though. They have Horford, Josh Smith, Ivan Johnson looking for minutes at PF, and I'm not quite sure that Patterson would get meaningful minutes there.

Is that the deal with him. Speights used to kill us in Philly. They had our number for a while couple years ago.

I think the Rockets have their eyes set on spending that max contract money on a guard or small forward.

I think the Rockets should take a long look at Tyreke Evans. 6-6 athletic swing man who can legitimately play at the point guard, shooting guard, and small forward.

Well, that's where 2Pat comes in handy as the Josh Smith leaving via free agency insurance. And Smith can play some 3, while 2Pat can play some 5. It is also 'cheap' insurance with 2Pat's salary, plus could be even cheaper if we sweeten it a little. Just take the cash Knicks paid for Toney Douglas, minus the interest Les has earned for this year , and pass it on. TD at least has earned his salary this year.

Check his game log ... an 18 pt game followed by a bunch of 0 to 8 games ... then another 18 pt game followed by another bunch of 0 to 8 games ... or something similar

Tyreke Evan can legitimately play PG, SG and SF ... but cannot legimately play any of them well.

Just watch the Rockets go from a 25 assists per game team back down to 18 with Tyreke on board ... even if he'll get you 3 a game.

I'll take your word for it. Man I wish a recarnation of pistons Rasheed Wallace would fall in our lap.

Eddie Griffin could've developed into that sort of player. Sad ...

I got news for you Spark, to get to the top of the mountain the Rockets will have to go thru San Antonio and OKC. And there is not a low post player that will help us against any of these teams. OKC has a bunch of big bodies and one of the best shot blockers on the planet and S.A. has Tim Duncan.

Everybody on this board is screaming for a big name power forward when the backcourt is the weakest part of the team. Once you take Harden out the mix you are left with Lin, Douglas, and Delfino. Sorry, but that's not a championship contending backcourt.

The Rockets need to get another stud on the perimeter. Besides Harden they just have inconsistent players with potential.

Isn't that the point of being a young team?

It's time to think outside the box, people. Maybe the Rockets could recruit Tyreke Evans in free agency by just folding out a map of Houston and pointing out all the ripe opportunities for drive-by shootings? Between the new loop and the toll roads, getting to the location of your next drive-by shooting is a breeze!

The same thing could be said about the power forwards the Rockets have as well.

Since Morey said we will probably looking to make a small move come the trade deadline, I have to say, I really like the Derrick Williams idea some of you proposed earlier. Even do his producing around the same as Marcus Morris, I think there's a lot more upside to him, given our uptempo system and his athletic ability. Not to mention he could possibly be had for cheap. Maybe even something like this: Toney Douglas and Marcus Morris for Derrick Williams

Chris Paul is a player I'm sure the Rockets (and everyone else) will go after.

The Clippers are doing great this year but the second best player on that team is 32 years old.
They can offer CP a 5 year contract but $80 million in Houston is just as good as $105 in L.A. and plus CP will have a legitimate super star running mate which is something he doesn't have now...

Douglas isn't going anywhere at the trade deadline, unless we get a point guard in return
