The new CBA includes the following regarding the NBA D-League: *Effective with the 2012-13 season, there will be no limit on the number of times players with three years or less of experience can be assigned to their team’s NBA D-League affiliate. It also says: * Beginning this season, teams can assign veteran players with their consent to the NBA Development League.
No... Not Terrence or Beverly... There may be others that we have the exclusive rights to but those two definitely are only ours to bring back up
If they have Rockets contracts, they cannot be touched. But those with RGV contracts only are fair game. That's why we (Rockets) signed up Greg Smith last February while he was still in the DLeague. His agent was getting numerous inquiries already.
As nbafever mentioned, no. But I'm sure the Rockets are now the only team associated with the Vipers now.
I feel ya I just hope we dont trade him. I also hope he doesnt get discouraged because he is allready a lot better than most of the rookies that get a lot of playing time.
I think the difference between dmo and jones is that when I watched jones in NBA min. He looked lost and out of control missing I rotations even though he has a NBA body. No when I see dmo in limited min. He is the opposites he usually makes the right read on defense and know how to space the floor on offense. His problem is he does not have the NBA body. I really think dmo can be our future Allstar 4 at 7ft tall he has the height that's rare for a big man playing the pf spot. He also has a great feel for the game and seems like his defensive potential is alot higher than expected. He as the offensive game down and is a very fluid player at 7ft. The only thing holding him back is his weight the guy really needs to bulk up to at least 250lb. I think he compares to Chris Bosh they have face up game and can nail the outside jumper while being able to set up there post game hooks with their face up game. I've actually been very impressed with dmo in the min. Iv seen him play this yr he rarely looks lost and seems to make the right plays on both sides of the ball. He just needs confidence and strength and he should be a absolute stud for the rockets.
small sample size for tjones however jones has one of the highest PER offensive outputs at 15.2 outside of harden, greg and patterson
Now i have noticed exactly the opposite - DMo looks lost out there if you ask me - always trying to find out where he is supposed to be, the game seems to fast for him. He looks hectic and really nervous. Jones looked fine for several games at the beginning of the season - than he hit a bad streak where he made several mistakes and looked a little overwhelmed. But overall it looked a lot more like he belonged out there. If you just look at potential I'd still go with DMo. With his sizes, speed, post moves and shooting touch he may really be something someday. Jones does everything fairly well but nothing special. So I think he has a future in the NBA but one as a role player...
"With their consent" in professional sports doesn't exist. NFL teams get players "with their consent" all the time to take pay cuts. Why? Because it sure as hell beats getting actually cut, as in from the team. If a veteran can go down from now on, you can be sure that they will go down. I expect the Rockets to use this on some of their borderline fourth year players. Perhaps it may also be useful in getting a rehabbing vet some more playing time, but I highly doubt any guy anywhere near "star"-dom would accept this as opposed to shaking off the rust the T-Mac way.
His post moves are actually much better than bosh haha. And im with you about his D being better than expected. He is still too small obviously, but how many deflections has he gotten in his garbage time mins? It seems like he gets a couple every time out. When 2pat was out i was very disappointed to see that DMo never got a chance vs undersized 4s. The only real mins he got was vs philly and he actually played quite well. If we do end up "upgrading" at the PF at the deadline but DMo is part of the deal i will be very upset
Because the Rockets have D-Mo and T Jones waiting in the wings, I don't think they will go after a big name power forward....
You didn't mention his ability to block shots. His raw talent for this, considering his size, is really really worth tapping into.
I think the RGV behaves something like a restricted free agency for those not under contracts. Rockets have the ability to match an offer when one is made to one of the players.
