OK so apparently this season's flu is supposed to be really bad, but haven't they been saying that ever since the flu vaccine hit the market and big pharma started pushing it? Thoughts? http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...on-sick-elderly-flu-deaths-workplace/1823425/
Been experiencing flu symptoms for about three weeks straight now, hope I'm not added onto the death toll number.
I know it's coming. I've been surrounded by a-holes who still feel the need to come to work. I've been staying in my office and trying to keep them out. I know it's coming, though. Between these morons and my kids being in pre-school and elementary, I'm doomed.
Not advisable to get a flu shot while sick, especially if you have a fever. If you just have minor symptoms though, go ahead and get one.
Instead of overdosing on medicine try drinking a cup of hot green tea or chamomile tea with honey and lemon.
No, they don't say that every year. The flu vaccine isn't a huge money maker for big pharma so you point on that isn't valid. I normally don't get a flu shot but I did get one this year due to the forecast of the severity of the flu.
What is that supposed to mean? If you get the flu shot and the flu shot contains the same strain as the flu that you catch then you either won't get it or your symptoms will be much milder because your immune system will be built up to that strain. If its a completely different strain than what you got in your flu shot then yeah You'll have the flu. But, they said this year they nailed the strain, so those who got the flu shot will have milder symptoms or not at all this year. #winning
I had the flu shot in September, but I have definitely had the flu for over a week now. I hate Nyquil.
My entire family and every single person in my office have gotten really sick this year. I usually get like 3 colds a year but I've been chewing Airborne like candy since October and I've yet to get sick. Knock on wood much?
I recently posted a flu thread as I had it and days before x-mas. First week was really bad. I actually got up to take a shower and, while dressing to try to make it to work, I collapsed back into bed and was sweating profusely. All i could do was lay down and sleep. After first week, it was just respiratory hell and still tired sleeping a lot. The mind was foggy as hell...couldn't think straight. For three weeks, had a cough, congestion, no taste buds, chapped lips (no matter how much Chapstick I used), no real appetite. The energy level was slow to come back after being laid up so long. It took a full 3 weeks to get over all the symptoms in my case. By far the worst flu case I've ever had. Must have got the really nasty strain. The second and third weeks were functional but it was like having a box over my head with hearing loss and just not feeling right in the head. I lost ten pounds or so that first week. Nasty stuff. So glad that nightmare is over.
I drink the emergen-c before work. Then before bed I'll drink some hot green tea. So far so good I haven't had an episode like surfguy did.
