Yes and no. PPat has been playing better than Morris lately but our team is winning with him coming off the bench. So I would say if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Did you also see how many times Jason Smith (of all players) blocked patterson in the paint and hounded him all night like he was his little b****
Honestly, guys... if the question is, "Who should be starting at PF, Marcus Morris or Patrick Patterson?", all Rockets fans should be rooting for the team to trade for a good PF. The Jazz are 1.5 games behind Portland for the #8 spot in the West. Here's Utah's upcoming (pre-February trade deadline) schedule: 1/11 @ Atlanta 1/12 @ Detroit 1/14 vs. Miami 1/19 vs. Cleveland 1/23 vs. Washington 1/25 @ Lakers 1/26 vs. Indiana 1/28 vs. Houston 1/30 vs. New Orleans 2/1 vs. Portland 2/2 @ Portland 2/4 vs. Sacramento 2/6 vs. Milwaukee 2/8 vs. Chicago 2/9 @ Sacramento 2/12 vs. Oklahoma City 2/13 @ Minnesota 2/19 vs. Golden State Even if Utah goes, say, 11-7 during this stretch, that puts them at 30-25 and at, what, #7 in the West? Are they really going to beat the Clippers or the Thunder or the Spurs in the first round of the playoffs? Are they really going to pass on a solid offer from the Rockets (e.g., Donatas Motiejunas, Patrick Patterson, and a first round pick) for Millsap? Just so they can lose in the first round and maybe watch Paul Millsap walk this summer? Or be pressured into re-signing him AND Al Jefferson, so they can spend $60+ mil in 2013-14 for yet another team that's going to lose in the first round of the playoffs? All signs point to a Millsap-to-Houston February trade!
Marcus Morris is looking like Marcus Morris of last season. I think Pat wants to be a starter and should have a chance to earn his spot back. Let Morris regain his confidence off the bench.
It's much closer than I thought it would be This is my take on this. I think we all want an upgrade but at the moment, he's being more productive than Morris so I want him back with the starters. Ah, I didn't know about this. Well that certainly changes things.
If we keep winning at the pace we have been, and Patt continues to be more effective off the bench then he was as a starter, then why change it up? I just hope that Patt doesn't get too comfortable shooting outside shots because we NEED him getting rebounds like he did in the NOH game
Maybe just PPat was in deep sleep mode when they flew to NO, while Morrey just did things....in pants?
Morris needs to play with more energy I see him tracking rebounds with his eyes but doesn't go after them. I also think they need to post up ppat more frequently. He has good moves looks like he tried to learn from Scola a bit. He hasn't finished for the most part but usually gets up an uncontested shot.
I don't really mind who starts. Just give more minutes to the one who's playing better. Last game against the Hornets, Morris was already playing horribly and still got his minutes.
He had 1 rebound in 20 minutes of playing time. That just won't cut it, especially coming from your starting power forward.
If we settle for players like Millsap, we'll have the same team we had last year.. we need to hold out for a legit star, not border-line stars like Gay and Millsap.
I started this thread in support of starting PPat again but now I want to vote #3. Ship them out already, they are both softer than dog crap.
