Id rather have the Sonics back anyway if i gotta choose 1. And then hopefully the Bobcats change to the Hornets and New orleans fails and ends up moving to sac town in 5-10 years lol
It's a shame to see the fans of Sacramento - who are diehards- lose their team. At the same time, Seattle fans are just as willing to support a team as Kings fans, and I'm happy to see the Maloofs gone.

Source: Seattle groups offer was rejected by Maloofs. Hmmm. Plot thickening by the minute.
— stevelarge_cbs13 (@largesteven) January 9, 2013
The Maloofs are so wishy-washy. Looks like it's now a bidding war between local Sacramento groups that want to keep the team in town and Hansen's group, which will also have to pony up about $125 million or more as a relocation fee. Figures that Clay Asshat Bennett is in charge of the Relocation Committee. I'm sure he'd love to to stick it to Seattle.
Oh brother! Here we go again. I remember watching their "final game in Sacramento" a couple of years ago when they closed the season playing the Lakers. The crowd applauded loudly, gave the team one last standing ovation, Jerry Reynolds had trouble keeping himself together near the end and cried as he signed off because, at the time, everyone thought they were moving to Anaheim. It was an emotional moment. Then that went up in smoke. Afterwards, we all remember the Maloof's gutting and filleting Kings fans by backpedaling from a deal with Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson. Now this. Like TO said, get out'cha popcorn.
Why? There's no need for any other team to change divisions. Seattle replaces Sacramento in the Pacific. That's it.
But they are still the (renamed) Kings. Kind of confusing when people want to talk about team records/history. Once they relocate to Seattle and the media wants to write about the team's greatest players in their history, will they refer to old Kings teams or the Sonics teams?
Listening to the Grant Napier show and he seems to think Sac won't be able to match the big money of the Seattle group. He was saying that 500mil was the most offered for an NBA team. Mayor Kevin Johnson will look for potential buyers but the future for the Kings to stay in Sac looks bleak.
You're right. That is interesting and confusing. It doesn't matter much to me since I'm a Rockets fan. I still view Oilers records as belonging to Houston. It seems weird that Tennessee would feel ownership for achievements by Warren Moon and Earl Campbell. I'd say those team achievements belong to Sacramento in case they ever get another team. You have the Thieves in OKC with their recent history, the Sonics with their old history, a gap of a few years, and their new history, and then you have a bunch of Kings history that nebulously floats out there belonging to a city and a team that no longer exists.
So is this not happening? Still happening? What the hell is going on here? Earlier reports were that a "deal was being finalized" and now we have less official reports by bitter folks in Sacramento saying nuh-uh? Followed by the usual Kevin Johnson grandstanding, of course. Just sell the team already and stop leaking reports to gauge interest in a sale, you disingenuous Lebanese dicks.
Let me ask you people this... If San Antonio lost their team and then bought the Rockets franchise and called them the Spurs, would you think that's right? Cause that's what we're seeing. The Kings have history. The league should move the freakin' Bobcats to Seattle.
I think you're right that moving the team is bad enough and changing the name from Kings to Sonics would just add insult to injury. On the flipside, though, the fans in Seattle want to root for the Sonics, not the Kings. What if Houston lost the Rockets and then later bought the Spurs. Would you want them to keep playing as the Houston Spurs? An entirely new name with no history might be the best thing. Then Seattle fans can talk about the old Sonics teams and the new franchise. Sacramento fans will cry for the franchise they've lost, but they at least don't have to suffer the indignity of seeing them rebranded as a rival -- they'd be in the same boat as Vancouver, New Jersey, Seattle, and Charlotte.
Does this mean they're going to have a semi-fire sale on their roster? Too bad the only player worth trading for is Cousins, and even then many consider him a risk.
The Bobcats are most likely changing back to the Hornets in a few seasons and then the fans will def. get behind them. The only teams that i wouldn't mind seeing go away are New Orleans Pelicans, Washington Wizards(Unless they grow balls and go back to BuLLets) or the Memphis Grizzlies. Honestly...the Kings only have the Rick Adleman teams....thats it. And Mitch Richmond...Reggie Theus...Kenny Smith and Otis Thorpe for us homers...Their history sucks. I don't mind this move at all.
Oh...and also when i play 2k and i play with late 80's and 90's legends on current proper teams. I HATE not having any team for Kemp and Payton b/c putting them on the Thunder is overkill and they look wrong wearing those jerseys. With the Kings...i can just put Webber on the Warriors or in Washington. This fixes everything!
