Like a dictator, Obama threatens unprecedented gun control by executive order

Tell you what. Let's sit you down to a big meal of lasagna. Then let's put color photos of the kids dead on the floor at Sandy Hook, ripped open by multiple gunshot wounds, in front of you.

And yet you'd still advocate your nonsense.

If the founding fathers could have foreseen assault rifles and such, they'd've worded their document a little differently. In any case, the Constitution was written in a very different era. Only very paranoid, stubborn, reactionary (see also, texxx, big) fools are sticking to their guns on this one, bad pun intended.

Because, God knows, we all need big, big guns. Right? Lots of em. Let's hand em to teachers. To principals. To sanitation workers. We can only be safe if we have guns. Guns guns guns. Yippee skip.

That same logic can be used to support domestic spying, because the State can use terrorist attacks as a justification.

Constitutional rights and civil liberties trump public safety.

Just like Bush and his media cronies used video of the World Trade Center being destroyed to justify the Patriot Act. Since the State is incapable of protecting us, each new shooting or terrorist attack will be used to promote even further encroachment on our civil liberties until the US has been reduced to a Police State.

What's depressing to me is how the left doesn't see the connection between the Government conspiring to crack down on OWS and Operation Fast and Furious. Both illegal acts reveal a deep contempt for our Constitution and an utter disdain for what it represents.

 

In this case, a poorly written and incorrectly interpretted amendment to the constitution is a danger to public safety.

 

I wish we could get all the owners of Bushmasters and other assault weapons to exercise their fantasized Second Amendment Rights against the US military's F-16's, helicopter gunships, drones and tanks for a couple of months.

They could also be given the opportunity to turn in their weapons if they would rather avoid their own slaughter.

So are we banning sales of certain types of guns or are we making it illegal to own certain types of guns?

Banning gun sales solves almost nothing imo. You have to outlaw handguns and institute large scale handgun buyback programs to make a difference. Anything else is just a cosmetic fix that solves almost nothing because we have far too many guns in this country and you have to take drastic steps to reduce the availability of handguns.

Right, because Americans are really worried about a stable government and military.

Lets see, how many governments have remained completely stable through time? But its ok, our country is the exception. It is civilized and it will never be cracked or be divided.

 

Even if that was true then why don't the Dems just bring forth a motion to change it? That's the way the ****ing system works. We don't live by edicts and decrees. If democrats want to amend an amendment, there is a process for that and it isn't by presidential mandate.
