Of course the Rockets are more effective with Parsons playing the PF because that's when the Rockets have the best team on the floor. With Lin, Harden as the backcourt, Delfino playing the 3, and Parsons playing the 4, the Rockets have 4 guys that can run the floor and create for others and themselves.

Marcus was actually faster than Chandler in the 3/4 court sprint. I think TJ is the answer though at the 4. He's fast. He can create for himself. He can create for others. He has much better defensive potential at the position. He just can't shoot. Yet.

Interesting thread. Parsons is tall enough, a very good defender even against taller or quicker players, and quicker than most PFs. So this gives us a lot of opportunities for mismatches. I guess when we play both Morris and Parsons, Morris can slide to the SF while Parsons slides to the PF position.

been saying this since last year, facts do not lie about it, hes been much better playing the 4, everyone has just said he was a 3 for his defense on KD and Kobe a year ago.

The reason the staff and everyone else thinks that is because we suck at the PF spot, even Parsons playing out of position at the four is better than our PFs.

So basically what happens is you go from:

    PP/MM: below average
    Parsons: Above average

    To:

    Parsons: Average
    Delfino: Average

At this point I'm certainly surprised DMo hasn't cracked the rotation yet, out of all the PFs IMHO he's had the most experience, even though PP has 2 years on him Dmo spent a whole camp with the team and he's had 1 whole season as the main man on a team in Europe.

Being able to defend elite wing players is good enough to stay in that position, esp. since Parsons has developed a 3 pt shot and the ability to drive and finish.

Parsons can play the four but he's too thin to be banging bodies with the true PFs, if you play him major minutes at the four he's gonna break down and get injured.

Injury is not a good thing expectially after they break down. It injures many diversities playing basketball, as well, others who might not be playing basketball- such as tending a herb garden, or practicing modelling in my mirror. And that's what I like to add on this subject. imho

I'm curious to see if this is not just a matter of small sample size, as well as certain matchups simply working really well at times. Because conventional wisdom would suggest Parsons get destroyed if he tries to go up against opposing PFs all the time. Randolph, Griffin, Duncan, Ibaka, Millsap, etc. that WC teams have.

However, if this isn't a statistical oddity, it would strengthen my belief that the Rockets may target Iguodala in the offseason.

I'm not sure why we feel we have to have a set lineup with all of our players pigeonholed into one position. Having the flexibility of multiple players playing multiple positions seems better. Look how effective LeBron was when he swung to the 4.

will donuts and tjones.get.more.playing time.after.the all.star break?? At this point I have no confidence in PP.. he seems too injury prone. Marcus offensively is improving, but he's a big liability defensively..

Interesting use of a verb in the title.

Would there be enough ball to go around for Harden, Lin, and Granger? All those guys need to handle the rock and playmake.

    Right here
PPat and Morris average 21.9 FGA per game. Expect one of them to be gone and Granger to average 15-16 FGA per game.

Granger plays well off the ball.

Well, that's an option. Why Granger though? That dude's broken. Still hasn't played a single game this season and he had a mediocre 2011-2012 season.

MM and PP average 21.9/9/3.4 assists. Their combined PER is 14.8. Just about league average. And honestly, neither one of is big enough to handle a Randolf, Pau, or LMA. Since the small ball lineups are pretty well covered, I honestly do not see any PF out there who is both available and big enough to handle other beefy PF's in the league. Maybe Smith, who has the athleticism to cover just about anybody. I therefore think the probability is very high that Morey just sits on his thumbs for awhile. Or Smith. One might think that Kevin Love would be the perfect fit, but with the team leading the NBA in PPG I do not see why offense would be considered a priority upgrade. There is only one ball on the court.

    He dominates the ball.
