Apologies if this was already posted in the thread, I just didn't see it.

I haven't listened yet, but here is the transcript from Slate.com

if he didnt wanna play in the NBA...why did he even put himself in consideration for a draft pick...The Rockets trusted this idiot, and had a coaching staff vouch for him...

He just robbed the Rockets franchise of the money...

However circumstantial that may be, I hope the Rockets sue to recoup lost wages on a guy that never made an effort to be a team player...a pick is a pick, and the Rockets lost a lot of value...The Rockets mightve take a chance on a player like Perry Jones III, Fab Melo, or Jared Sulinger

I am really, really hoping this guy should not get one dime from the Rockets.

I think that when Royce was drafted, he thought he was entitled to some playing time. He thought that he was so special that the Rockets would let him do anything he wants, like coming to training camp when he wanted or whatever. But when reality hits, he starts using his mental illness and protocol as excuses not to play.

I also think Royce believes that if he's not going to get what he wants, he would at least get rich from this, thinking the Rockets would just buy out his contract and give him all the money. But hopefully the Rockets would keep suspending him this whole entire season without pay.

interesting fact is that he stated a lot of other players with mental illness are quiet about it and he is the only one SHOUTING OUT to the public about it

I'll prefer the quiet guy who handles this situation behind closed doors

I love this latest tweet where he states he talks to people like himself:

Maybe like the stealing of computers or whatever it was in college, White's only goal in the NBA was to steal money?

The poll choices should be changed, because I agree with neither of them. We should keep him until the end of his contract, not because he'll help the Rockets win down the road, but because it prevents the guy from getting another contract in the NBA for years.

Good idea, although I don't think any team will take a risk on him if he's let go. But it's always better to be safe. Ruin his career as much as possible.

Rockets aren't the first to take a chance on the hot crazy chick and have it backfire on them.

Happened to me before, but she wasn't hot :p

Legal action? Have you not been keeping up at all?(wouldn't blame you for trying not to). The accommodations Royce has insisted on have been noted as a clear violation of the collective bargaining agreement between the NBA and NBPA.

Meaning, this is now between the NBA, NBPA, and Royce White with the Rockets stuck in the middle. If this ends up going to court, it will be Royce White vs. the NBA not just Royce vs. the Rockets since the Rockets are backing themselves up against NBA litigation that Royce is fighting.

Unless Royce White is just willing to either A. Give up and walk away from the NBA, or B. Be willing to drop his request for accommodations, and work out a verbal agreement with the Rockets OUTSIDE of the CBA rules, this war is going to most likely drag out for months at the very least. Given Royce's hardline stance, and his obvious legal coaching during interviews its obvious that Royce's heels are dug in and he's ready to go to war over this.

If this does goes to court, I assume that Royce's claim is that the Rockets & technically the NBA are in violation of ADA Law. Note that the courts favor the employer something like 90% of the time in the US. Add to the fact that this is a very specialized industry + the NBA has some of the most shrewd lawyers in the country + Royce has rejected assistance from the NBPA = Royce going to battle in court.... well just to waste everyones time and money.

Im sure that Royce's agent & attorney know this but what does it matter to them. They still get paid in the process & Royce gets to portray himself to the public as some sort of Gandhi figure willing to sacrifice himself for the good of mankind.

i guarantee that at the end of the day Royce was strongly fighting for his right to use MaryJ medicinally to combat his disorder aka inability to handle real life changes

Man, to me it seems like it's a lost cause now. Of the reports we know, the team is trying to work with him, but White seems to be stubborn saying it's not enough. No compromise, no nothing. At least report to work first, geez.

He's making a stand for his beliefs, and that's all good. He's trying to be a trailblazer for those after him. Thing is, he's actually doing the opposite. NBA teams were already passing on the guy. The Rockets (in particular, McHale) took a chance on him.

No team will want to use a 1st round pick of someone with his condition now for sure.

Interesting how the poll results have changed over time. After the initial surge of votes it was about 14% in favor of "He's a talent that can help us win down the road." Since then it has slowly crept up, 15%, 16% 17% and then yesterday 18%.

Are people changing their minds about Royce? Seems hard to believe. Are new folks joining CF and voting in favor of him? Odd to see the poll results drift so much over time.
