Looks like the Mastrogiovanni rumors are true. Not worried about losing QA. A&M has enough receivers.
Its Mastrogiovanni. He confirmed it today. Top 7 inside linebacker recruit nationally. All the following commits are 4 star. Defensive players the Aggies have signed in ESPN's top 300 recruits #88 Justin Manning DT #162 Noel Ellis CB #206 Jordan Mastrogiovanni ILB #229 Isiah Golden DT #253 Kameron Miles S Offensive players signed in ESPN's top 300 recruits #13 Ricky Seals-Jones ATH (RB? WR?) #25 Derrick Griffin TE #91 Kohl Stewart QB #109 Joas Aguilar OG #117 LaQuvionte Gonzalez ATH (Kick Returner, Slot Receiver?) #207 Tony Stevens WR
Yep it's official. OU boards are taking the news...poorly. RS-J is more of a WR-TE, not a RB-WR. I'm curious if Polian might take a couple of the lower end recruits with him to Nevada. As much as I like the kid's story, I wouldn't be broken up if Tabuyo makes a break for it. I don't know if he'll ever get back the quickness and speed he had before the knee injury, and it's not like the Aggies are lacking for wideouts. Let him go to Nevada where he'll get to play, and the Aggies get another spot free for Savi (who knows how he's leaning now), Prevot, or Smith.
I love this kid more and more lol http://www.tmz.com/2013/01/06/johnny-manziel-football-texas-am-champagne-photo/
Yeah, I heard Johnny took his talents to South Beach. Dude is certainly enjoying himself, and rightfully so. As long as he doesn't get arrested again and gets back in time for spring semester I hope he enjoys himself.
Found this great video. Thought I'd share it with my fellow Ags. Gig em! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/FdR8fhw2YxE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
It's been a while- anyone know the status of the rules modifications saban called for (& to be fair he did so before their a&m game), as it pertains to offensive schemes that don't give defenses enough time to sub defenders out, compromising their safety etc.? If enacted, especially before manziel's gone, it could negate a huge advantage in what they do offensively. Usually these changes take some time even after they're approved though.
So now that Luke Joeckel has declared for the NFL Draft, I'm really hoping that Jake Mathews stays. They were a HUGE reason why the offense was so successful this season, and it would be nice to have a stalwart like Mathews hold over.
If he and Mathews stayed TAMU would have to be ranked #1 going into next year. You lose Joeckel, now you're top 4. Lose Mathews and I think 7-10 is fair but the media will probably still rank them 3-6.
True. The Ags have always seemed to have a good pipeline of OL though so while it effects their preseason ranking they should still be able to throw out quality players
Thank Sherman for Joeckel (and that great offensive line). Thanks Mike! Best of luck to Luke. He'll be missed but hard to pass up.
Cameron Echols-Luper decommited on Twitter. Someone must have gotten in his ear about playing time. Next recruit up!
Maybe, maybe not. Ohio State is well coached and will be a powerhouse eventually but they got by on good coaching and a weak schedule this year. Not sure why you'd rank Oregon over a TAMU team with two top 5 picks on the line and a Heisman. Bama, yeah, but TAMU beat them head to head. Moot point anyways, Joekel is gone, but I don't think the thought was out of the question. They're probably the hottest team in football right now.
And Aggies will be #4 or #5 going into next season. I'm good with that. As long as we're recognized as a National Championship contender, I'm good.
Jake Mathews made it official today. He's staying in school. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8833092/jake-matthews-texas-aggies-return-school
