New Phoenix line up: Dragon Brown Gay Beasley Gortat Not a lot of defense but besides Gortat that is one hell of an athletic lineup. Just imagine if Beas starts playing up to his potential
[insert customary joke about the Suns' owner being openly gay and Rudy Gay missing shots even when he's open] Man I am just phoning it in with this weather.
I figured that Phoenix would want Beasley gone... I made a trade machine trade here. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=aaonocc
The problem is that Memphis would just be taking on more bad contracts with the same duration as Gay's. They might get a third team in on this to fix that problem.
Jared Dudley 11.7 pts (49% FG, 38.2% 3PT, 80.8% FT), 2.5 asts, 3.3 rebs, 1.1 stls, 1.2 to PER = 15.87 vs. Rudy Gay 17.8 pts (40.8% FG, 32.3% 3 PT, 80.5% FT), 2.5 asts, 5.8 rebs, 1.5 stls, 2.4 to PER = 14.95
Funny thing is, people would have been ecstatic if that had been our line-up a couple of years ago had we been successful in getting Gortat and then Gay. They would have said that was a championship team. But because it's the Suns, now they look at it and say it's a mediocre line-up.

This just sounds like Pera wants to stamp the team. Because it makes likttle sense to make a move like this when we just drubbed a team by 32 and we have the best defense in the league (no thanks to zbo). #stupidity
You know a stats wonk like Hollinger is undoubtedly going by the metric he developed, perhaps even to a fault. In a way, this feels like a test by fire of the PER stat, in the same sense that Morey's use of APBRmetrics with the Rockets was a test of that statistical philosophy.
So "what" is a Memphis Grizzlies fan, even to the point of using "we" when talking about that team. Interesting.
Who would have been ecstatic, the smattering of Polish rockets fans and the hardcore Morey haters who thought Rudy Gay was on Durant's level? Marcin is a decent center, and other than leebigez, not a whole lot of people around here were high on Rudy Gay, especially after he began talking about max money.
Right now, I don't think anyone really know what direction the Suns want to go in. When they traded Nash to LA last summer, I thought they were going to rebuild their team starting with Goran Dragic. But instead of going young, they start bringing in veterans like Scola and Jermaine O'neal. They also had a few questionable moves like signing Michael Beasley and adding Wes Johnson, both players were giving up by their previous teams.
After half a decade the Grizzlies realized what the "egg heads" have known for years..... Gay is mediocre.
The Warriors make no sense because they already have all their bases covered in terms of shooting (Curry, Thompson) and athleticism (Landry, Barnes). Just one of those Jerry West vanity pickups I guess.
This all feels like a smokescreen for a Minnesota deal. They actually *need* a swingman like Gay in the worst way and are going to have to make some sort of deal before the deadline if they want to try to save their season.
