    Now your just arguing semantics.

He didnt do it, his mental illness did. Right?

Sorry, but he is the source of his beliefs, thoughts and feelings anxiety patient or not.

    ---------- ----------- -----------

My initial post was responding to the claim that a Doctor or someone must have brainwashed him into his behavior.

I sympathize with Royce's condition, I really do. I believe he should fight to set a protocol as he so puts it. BUT...I think he still can/should report to practice, D-League, etc.

neatly summed up. I kept on being patient. I figured, the team needed to roll with the punches, since we knowingly drafted a guy with mental health problems. But what is clear to me, is that Royce is not willing to show any good faith, even after the team has apparently done so.

Royce clearly wants the flexibility to make decisions regarding his participation with the team. And the fact that he wants it in writing means exactly what Commodore stated ...he wants to be guaranteed employment and a salary irrespective of what he does on his end. Giving a player that kind of license, especially without a proven track-record of hard work and good judgement, is a terrible idea. Royce thinks he's entitled to the organization's good faith, but he's only demonstrated the opposite.

Agree, what White is doing is just absurd. Its beyond ridiculous. He is demanding the Rockets to let a private doctor outside of the organization to make executives order. Doctors do what they are supposed to do which is to treat illness, not make executives order on a professional NBA team.

Royce White "Doctors should make medical decisions,".... Yes he's right about that one. Doctor should make medical decisions, not give executives order but yet he's demanding it. Its almost r****ded that he really think its logical that his own private doctor should be giving executive orders for the Rockets.

I wonder, has he even seen the mental health professional that the Rockets have for him? I remember that the Rockets set him appointments but he never shows up.

The NBA is rich enough so they should just issue protocol? Do you even know what his protocol is? What Royce White is demanding? The NBA is not going to change something that would only benefit one player who seems to have a problem with everyone.

Royce wants his doctors to be able to make executives decisions and that all health professional should be making executives decisions which is just ridiculous. Why in the world would the Rockets let a doctor outside of their organization to be giving executives order?

Royce White won't even see the Rockets doctors. The Rockets have their own medical staff who gives details to coaching staff and management so they can decide what to do with a player. For instance, when a player is injured or something, the medical staff would examine the player, then inform the coaching staff and management on the player's condition, therefore, the coaching staff and management would decide what to do from there. But White wants the doctor to make the decisions instead of management...

Anyone think Royce will beat MWP's 86 game suspension?

I would love to hear Tracy "I make my own microfracture decisions" McGrady's take on this. Seriously, I can't imagine any NBA player defending White at this point.

To sum up the Royce White situation, Mr. Kornheiser sums it up succinctly:

Elite talent is Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, CP3, James Harden, Carmelo Anthony etc...

I think he got talent just like most lottery picks, but his talents isn't elite. Royce can handle the ball and have good court vision but that's just about it with him... Royce White isn't that athletic, no shooting range, length or quickness. But he has not proven anything or done a single thing and his NBA career is most likely over.

"What's suspending me suppose to do. I've been away from the team for a month ½. Guess we want to give it a title to shift accountability," he tweeted.

    WTF?

Back when Hakeem was disgruntled... As I recall, he was suspended for "faking" an injury. Was that suspension under the performance clause of his contract? I can think of a couple of recent situations where the performance clause has come up - Kevin Love's hand and Eric Gordon wanting 4-6 weeks to rehab his knee. In each case, the "medical" dispute has become public and somewhat acrimonious.

While all of these examples are player-initiated, I wonder if there are instances where players have disputed being placed on the injured list, perhaps by a team seeking to avoid a performance bonus.

Seems like there is a fair amount of gray area in the standard contract that is leaving room at the margins for parties to argue. The players and the league should negotiate to straighten this out rather than fix it on a per incident basis.

C'mon, give Royce White's personal doctor executive authority over the Rockets and the NBA's basketball operations on all medical rationalization conceivable already.

Geez, guys, what's the friggin' holdup?

    Oh.

    Right.
