Watched it last night, best movie of 2012 imo. When the Klan was complaining about the eye holes in their masks had me rolling in my seat. Good stuff QT!!
Good movie. A lot of things I've heard when reviewed by 'professional critics' and Hollywood brass is the excess use if the n word and the of course gore. to argue the 1st point- the context is pre civil war era south, it was fitting but I understand how some could be upset. For point 2, it's Tarantino. Overall I enjoyed the movie, maybe even more than kill bill due to the fact I lined the plot better
well what do you know- You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to rocketsjudoka again. this is a good summary of how I have felt since Kill Bill 2. and I have said this before, but for me, I always find myself drifting off during a scene and imagining Quentin behind his laptop or typewriter thinking to himself how brilliant he is for coming with some witty dialogue or reference to another classic scene from cinema. I mentioned this previously, in Django Unchained, it only happened once- in the lynch mob scene with the bedsheets. I don't know why, and my brother agreed, it just seemed out of place for the genre. but then again, it's Quentin Tarantino. overall, I was thoroughly entertained but not blown away.
Saw the movie over the weekend. I'd give it a 7 out of 10. It wasn't as GREAT as I expected seeing the reviews. So slightly disappointed. I felt it wasn't worth the $13.50 (times 2 = $27, including my gf). To me it was more of a DVD type of movie. Not bad but wasn't worth $27 bucks. My gf agrees. I honestly think the higher user reviews on rottentomatoes and the like, which is close to 90%, the votes are probably skewed by a high number of african american viewers. Jamie Foxx just went Scarface on the slave owners.
Really? 7/10 is a DVD movie? So only 8/10 and above is worth going to the movies for you? I guess I can see that if you don't go often and if the prices are as high as you state.
1.) Pulp Fiction 2.) Jackie Brown 3.) Inglorious Basterds 4.) Kill Bill 5.) Reservoir Dogs 6.) Django
in terms of artistry, i put Spike Lee way above QT. Re-watched INSIDE MAN this week-end & it is a Beauty.
Not what I said. I said this movie is worth watching once on DVD but not something I'd venture out of my way to go see at the theater. Also this movie was at best a 7/10 for me but that's just my opinion so its okay if you don't agree with it.
Spike Lee, artsy? 25th Hour was so bad. It was critically acclaimed and I was so disappointed after I watched it.
Very underrated film by Spike Lee... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0a-E4Q9CHSk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
to me "Do The Right Thing Thing" is on equal footing with "The Royal Tenenbaum's" artistically + over and above the set designs, it had camera work/angles/shots that were completely new (to a layman like me anyway). ...the camera shot following Denzel after the "execution" in "Inside Man" - wow! (Johnny Two-Times)
Movie was great. Sam Jackson's best work in a long time. Watching how his character changed depending on who he was interacting with was interesting. Saloon scene and Don Johnson's plantation scene were very entertaining.
