The plan is for him to DH and Moreland play 1st. I would not be surprised to see him get at bats at 1st if Moreland struggles. The Berkman signing means the Rangers are moving Ott for another big bat.
First the Yankees the the cardinals now the rangers. Dang he goes to the hated teams (I know we traded him to the Yankees but he still had to approve the trade)
The Rangers are like the Astros in the late 1990's/early 2000's - they have a loaded farm system and a WS-capable team. It makes sense for them to trade prospects to fill holes in the major league roster, as long as they don't make the mistake we did and forget to keep drafting people.
I don't disagree. From an Astros fan perspective, though... 1. I think they'll take a step back this season. You don't replace Young and Hamilton with Berkman and not expect some regression. In addition, the Angels just got a lot better, at least on paper; and 2. The Astros aren't going to be competitive until such time as the farm talent starts to make its way up and improves...which could be nice timing with where the Rangers may be at that point. I'd love for the Rangers to start trading away their bigger prospects like Ott.
