I have anxiety and a fear of flying. Royce White has gone from someone I thought could be a wake up to those without anxiety to a nightmare example to of people with anxiety/mental health issues.

this. there is no 1 week suspension. it is indefinite.

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Rockets as expected have suspended Royce White 1 week after he refused assignment to the D League.</p>&mdash; Jonathan Feigen (@Jonathan_Feigen) <a href="https://twitter.com/Jonathan_Feigen/status/287950430011535361" data-datetime="2013-01-06T15:55:07+00:00">January 6, 2013</a></blockquote>

Actually, the Rockets would probably strongly disagree if that was the case. Letting an unproven player take up minutes over young players who have shown and worked their asses off to play in the big stage would send the message that a player can whine his way to get playing time. That would cause a huge locker-room issue. I especially can't imagine Marcus Morris liking that after what he went through last season.

Moreover, letting Royce play on a set routine would cause a major disadvantage on the part of the Rockets because basketball is a sport that heavily relies on mismatches and adjustments. Having a routine just for Royce would possibly cause losses especially if he doesnt pan out (which is very likely at this point).

    Good.

    F****** good.

I'm more than willing to give him a second chance. By all means they should keep working with him. But I don't care how #unsupportive it is, he shouldn't earn another penny until he's ready to be an employee.

and eventually, White might demand more, heck he could hold the entire league hostage with his silly demands, imagine if the protocol would include a automatic finals slot?

hopefully this issue would be resolved, finally the Rockets are playing good, yet the national media focuses on this goof

Why would you want to get rid of Royce White. Without him, the Rockets were mediocre last season and had huge collapse that got them out of playoffs. With him, they are 8-2 in their last 10 games and 4th best team in the entire NBA according to Hollinger's pose ranking.

Your post makes a lot of sense to me. For someone who's always going on about being proactive about one's mental health, I don't know why his only (personal) doctor has been a GP, who is not qualified to diagnose him with GAD, OCD or PTSD.

Jonathan Feigen constructed a fragmented tweet to get the info out in as few words as possible. "a week", "1 week", it's all the same. they did it a week after White refused the assignment.

in the press release, there was no mention of any timetable outside the word "indefinite"

There is always the possibility that Royce White could push the league into a lawsuit to really collect $$$, in a lawsuit!!!!!

I've heard Royce White Speak and he is eloquent enough, to have a decent intelligence level.

In today's environment, with the type of attitude about the past treatment of individuals and conditions, I could see a court ruling in his favor.

ON A SIDE NOTE, IF WHITE IS SUSPENDED, DOES HE STILL GET PAID????? I'D ASSUME HE DOES....

IF SO, THEN THIS SUSPENSION ITSELF IS PROTOCOL FOR REVOKING HIS CONTRACT AND CUTTING TIES WITH HIM..... MAYBE THIS ROYCE WHITE DRAMA IS FINALLY COMING TO AN END SOON!!! D. MOREY RECENTLY STATED HE WAS GOING TO LET THE LEAGUE DEAL WITH THIS, AND I GUESS THE WORD PROTOCOL FOR BREAKING A PLAYER CONTRACT COMES TO MIND.

I think Royce did this to himself single handed.

Perhaps the Rockets have been waiting for Royce to make just the right comment in order to crucify himself.

We already know that tweets are considered public statements and therefore accrue on his record.

Since you have no professional and probably personal understanding of mental illness, it's easy to ignore these types of comments.

I don't blame the Rockets at all for suspending White. At the same time I don't have enough understanding of Roy's mental illness to have hatred towards the guy, or to claim I know why he's done the things he has.

I don't even thinks it matters why, especially when most of the comments from people who don't have a clue.

What? You can't possibly be serious....

Why is this remotely in Royce's self interest to keep doing this? Aside from the numerous problems with Occam's razor, you also have to prove that this is ACTUALLY the simple explanation. To me, it is less simple to make some elaborate mental illness and convince others it's true (including doctors), than it is to truly have a mental illness that most people fail to understand or don't want to understand because they lack basic empathy.

Let him be, let the Rockets be, and this situation will be resolved. It is harmful to keep piling it on him. Just let it alone.

I think it has been said he wasn't getting paid before this suspension. Players need to attend practice and games for that.
