Someone desperate might. Once the reality that Royce's NBA career is over has hit him. Someone desperate might throw him a bone on the privaso that he doesn't pull this crap again.

I mean, people keep gambling on Beasley.

This is where we don't what that is. In his mind, he clearly thinks this is the case.

Protocol needs to be that he receive foul calls on contact and get to take up to three steps in the lane.

    You know, the Kobe protocol.

A guest speaker on the Rocketscast mentioned he's compulsive obssessive and the current problem of needing a schedule down to the t stems from that.

Obviously Houston is tired of paying this man to refuse to perform services, as any employer would. So they are suspending him without pay, as any employer should when an employee under contract refuses to perform services.

The best case scenario at this point would be for another team to trade an expiring contract, and nothing else, no draft picks, nothing, for White's contract. This allows the Rockets to dump him, avoid any further drama, avoid unnecessary litigation (unnecessary because White will not be successful if he were to litigate anything), and move on.

Someone mentioned the Charlotte Bobcats. This trade works:

Royce White to Charlotte; Reggie Williams (expiring contract) to Houston.

Pretty much every single team in the entire league has a guy making in the $1.5-$2.5 mil range whose contract expires at the end of the season. In my opinion, a VERY reasonable inference to make, in the event that White is still on the Houston roster (i.e., he has not been traded) after the February trade deadline comes and goes, is that Houston offered White to all 29 teams in the league for what amounts to a bag of chips and that all 29 teams told Houston, "No, way, we don't want that idiot." Understand that we live in an environment where there is tremendous fear that a crazy (and White is crazy) former employee or just a crazy stranger walks in and starts shooting people. And that we live in an environment where employers do not want to get sued.

If that doesn't work, then the Rockets will take the somewhat unprecedented act of releasing him and refusing to pay him another dime. And I think they will be successful if/when White sues them for breach of contract among god knows how many other things.

    Projected timeline:

Present-February trade deadline: Suspend White without pay while attempting to trade him for a bag of chips.

Post-Februrary trade deadline, if the Rockets cannot trade him: Void his contract and offer some sort of modest buyout agreement that will allow the Rockets to avoid litigation. In other words, however much money it's going to cost to litigate the thing, offer him a sum somewhat less than this amount as a buyout in exchange for agreeing not to sue the Rockets organization.

And to those who think that Royce White will be working at Burger King in 2-3 years: incorrect! Burger King has standards. There is a chunk of the American population that is simply unemployable, and White looks like he is going to be a part of this chunk. He will likely wind up in and out of jail on petty criminal charges and living off of social security disability.

the Suspension is probably for legal reasons - so they can void his contract and get rid of him. they have to show reason for voiding his contract.

by suspending him for refusal to play, and he is not protesting that suspension, he is basically agreeing that he is refusing to play. that gives the rockets the authority to then void his contract.

What i love about this is he said he wants to set and example for others with mental health issues. How is being selfish and being unable to comprise at all a good example?

I was going to post what that other guy posted. I mean I've been reading about White wanting a protocol put in place for over a month now but no one's ever said what it is. Isn't the protocol that White wants just to be allowed to be bussed to games?

So if I may ask a potentially embarrassing question: How do we know White isn't making all of this up? I don't just mean the recent drama but about having any health problems at all?

He claims some general practitioner of medicine at home diagnosed him with "general anxiety disorder". There is no name for this doctor, and in any case a general practitioner is not qualified to make this diagnosis. If a GP really though he might have mental health problems he would have been referred to a mental health specialist - which is something the team is trying to do now. But he refuses. Why? Perhaps because a mental health specialist would know that he's lying?

According to Royce, he hasn't had a panic attack since he was 18. He takes no medication and does no therapy. So if he has mental problems, and they are such an important issue that he refuses to play in D-league until there is a protocol, why is he doing absolutely nothing to get better? Perhaps because there's nothing wrong with him and he's only "sick" when it's a convenient way for him to manipulate the situation?

His current demands for a D-league "mental health protocol" sound like absolute bull****. He made no demands for such a protocol when he was on the bench hoping for NBA minutes. Is he claiming that D-league, where the competition is less fierce, the crowds smaller, the media attention less intense, and where he'll be coddled like a baby, is somehow worse for his "anxiety" than the NBA?

What I find disturbing are all the people with real mental issues that have chimed into this forum - some supportive and some suspicious. They psychoanalyze every enigmatic tweet from Royce and try to make explanations for his unique version of the disease. Pages and pages of text about what he may be thinking, how he's misunderstood etc. If he's lying he's taken a lot of people with honorable intentions on a total wild goose chase.

He's tweeted that he also has PTSD, and may possibly have issues similar to the Sandy Hook gunman. My response? Your first story was better.

According to Occam's razor, the simplest explanation is often the true one. What is more plausible: That he has some wierd and unique combination of GAD and PTSD and whatever disorder of the day that Royce thinks will evoke the most sympathy, or that he's just making this up as he goes along to get what he wants?

So since I only know what everyone else knows, there's no way I can be 100% he's lying. Perhaps there's something I don't know, or some fact I missed. If I'm out of line or missing something, please educate me. But at this point, Royce is going to have to bring forward some hard evidence to convince me he's not total bull****.
