If the Rockets can win both Milwaukee and Cleveland, then before their next after Cleveland, we could see a little bit of buffer at that 6th spot in the West playoff race, with games like:

    - Minn vs DEN
    - POR vs MEM
    - LAL vs LAC
    - POR vs MIN
    - UTAH vs DEN
    - DEN vs LAL
    - LAL vs GSW

Basically, Minn, Den, Port and LAL all have games against teams 4th to 10th in the West standings.

This is the right time for us to put a little more gap in the standings.

But we must win BOTH, or it'll go to waste.

If the Lakers lose to Clippers, Nuggets and hen on Jan 8 the Rockets have a chance at home to put the Lakers season record at 15-19, with the next two games following that against SAS and OKC.

Then they'd have to win more than 2 out of 3 games rest of the way to have a chance at the playoffs.

I'll bet the next 5 games Sterns and the Refs will be alert and the whistles will be there for the Lakers.

Stop saying Jeremy Lin shut down Vasquez. He didn't. If anything he played more of a parsons "glue" role today. Vasquez pretty much played on par or better than Lin, almost doubled him in assists. If we had Chris Paul this game would've been a blowout.

Give the Hornets credit. They competed well and we were off our game interms of shooting. It happens we cant score 125 everynight. It is a sign of maturity that we are able to eek out wins without being at our best. The open looks were all there but we just couldnt hit them.

Parsons didnt score 30, but i thought showed good poise out there and attacked the basket and rebounded well. Harden didnt have his best game because he missed some shots he makes in his sleep, but he still got 31 points and 7 assists on just under50%.

Lin for the most parts was good and Asik finished off his shots when he was put under pressure well. hence the 2 and 1 plays.Patterson really impressed me with his tenacity obn the boards and his post defence was good again. He hit some big shots as well.

Asik needs to work on his layups more than his FTs.

Vasquez had a double double and still couldn't pull out a win.. To me, it's a double/double put to waste and those statistics are very deceiving making you believe Vasquez had a decent game but that ain't the case at all... He had a costly TO when they were down by 3 or 1 in a very crucial point in the game...

This game isn't 5v1... don't hold Vasquez accountable for their loss, he did everything he could. I think Vasquez is legit. Even though he's 25,26? I see him as one of the league's best upcoming point guards.

    You're welcome.

Comparing Jeremy's last 9 games against his performance last season in Linsanity 1.0, his effectiveness is about the same. Since he's averaged 34 minutes per game in the last 9 games, you can look at his performance last year per 36 minutes:

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/linje01.html

His scoring and assists were up last year, but he also took and missed more shots, and his turnovers were higher.

Put it all together and his average raw efficiency number in the last 9 games (19) is only 1 off of his average raw efficiency number last season (20) per 36 minutes.

We're basically seeing the same player right now as Linsanity 1.0, then. He's shooting less, and shooting fewer free throws per game, but he's also making more shots and committing less turnovers.

JLin is not a Top-10 point guard in the league right now. He's not. But once you get past, say, the top 10 or top 12, then there isn't a ton of separation between the guys. At least as regards PER and overall effectiveness.

For Jeremy to be doing as well as he is now with so little experience is, I think, a very good sign. As long as he can stay healthy and continue to improve, he should be able to steadily get better and improve his standing among the other NBA point guards.

Vasquez was like 3-of-11 or so from the field when Jeremy was on him. Were his assists good? Yeah, but that's because guys were hitting shots, including a good number of jump shots. If Asik could finish better and if the Rockets hit a few more jump shots, then Lin would have had double-digit assists, too.

It's not Lin's fault if guys don't finish at the rim or miss shots off of good passes he makes.

Vasquez came into the game as the newly-named Western Conference Player Of The Week. Jeremy did very well against him, head-to-head, last night.
