I too think the minutes are a bit much, but it's reasonable to say that his defence was needed to pull out the win.

Maybe Lin knew it was going to be a long night (Maybe coach told him), and so he paced himself. That could explain how slowly he started.

Vasquez went 2-for-11 when Lin was guarding him!

    Great D by Lin. :)

The one disconcerting thing about PPat's play tonight is that it pretty much means he's been somewhat dogging it before.

He showed that if he puts in effort he CAN rebound and bang.

But he didn't shut down Vasquez. And he's also a point guard and scoring isn't his only job..

Wasn't too long ago where LOF were complaining about Lin not getting enough minutes.

Honestly, Lin uses so much effort on the defensive side, that it has to effect him somewhat on his offensive game.

Too McHale couldn't afford to take him out today. He went to the locker room for a little bit and Vasquez came alive.

Hard to say, but I don't think McHale had a choice.

The only player that was able to stay on Vasquez was Lin. The only times Vasquez started scoring was when either Lin was sitting or he could screened/double screened onto a switch.

The team wasn't hitting a lot of easy baskets or 3's, they got blocked a fair bit, and they had trouble getting foul calls which meant they had to play more of a defensive game.

Good win and score line in spite of all that.

McHale doesn't usually play Lin 40+ mins, so hoping this is just a one off anomaly.

I've never imagined before that Lin would one day be used as a defensive force to help save games. how ironic when some people still label him 'no defense' Lin. lol

Actually, for 80% of the time he was guarding Vasquez, Vasquez was shutdown.

Need to find a middle ground. He shouldn't be underused unless he is playing poorly, he shouldn't be overused as he is coming off of a surgery.

No player or team makes all their baskets even inside. In fact, they generally go at about 60-70% clip. No need to throw others under the bus because Lin also gets his fair share of assists where he made a decent pass but the finisher made a great play.

But I do agree that Lin generally is a very complete player. And if the expectations are average starting PG, what Lin brought over the past month would be satisfactory. I am hoping he becomes better than that as he gets more experience though.
