Sure but again people are trying to argue based on merit and who deserves to be in the All-star game. It's the 2013 All-star game, not a legacy or career vote. Otherwise I would be arguing that Jason Kidd should get to start
Agreed. If we really wanted to get the deserving players into the All-Star games, then there shouldn't be a voting system. I hope Lin makes it to the starting line up for entertainment purposes and fan reaction.
OK, as a Lin fan and based on the overall reaction of ClutchFans, I have decided to come back with a clean slate. I was wrong in voting for Jeremy Lin into the ASG, so in order to try to make things right again, I've helped save the marketing and PR team of Rockets some time, to do just a bit of fine touches on the ASG promo poster. Hope you like.
Let's look at the All Star game from a different angle. Since the Harden and Lin backcourt combo is the most dangerous backcourt duo in the league with the best numbers in combined PPG, REB, AST and STL among all starting point guard and shooting guard duo, why don't we just vote the two of them together into the ASG so they can show every one what we have?
China will keep Lin OUT of the ASG, perhaps permanently. China hates Taiwan (if you need a pollitical lesson), and Lin is associated with Taiwan. There are already reports of China voting en masse for CP3 to be sure Lin does not make it. Let's see if this permanently dooms Lin in future years.
Actually, this is nonsense. China hates Taiwan so much that Nike sent Jeremy Lin to China to promote products?
China doesn't "hate" Taiwan....they just refuse to believe they aren't really part of china. Hating Taiwan to china would be like the US hating Hawaii....china claims everything of Taiwan as Chinas......so Lin is actually from china in the mainland perspective.
I'm sure Nike is "hoping" that Lin can help tap into Asia/China (given the lack of Asian faces in the NBA), but trust me, there are far more Chinese that hate Taiwan and will vote to keep Lin out than there are Lin fans in China. Of course, this might change if Lin someday changes citizenship from US to China and plays for the Chinese national team, but I really can't see an American born and raised player wanting to do that.
Let me rephrase--China hates all people associated with Taiwan. China covets the land that is owned by Taiwan. I have spoken with many Chinese from China who have told me this. They want the land and could care less about the people associated with the land.
Am I the only one that imagines a dark building with thousands of women and kids getting paid 10$/month to vote for CP3 and a grim man watching them all and from time to time shouting "IF LIN BEATS OUT CP3 YOU ALL WILL BRING SHAME TO THE COUNTRY"?
And Lin isn't a political figure (even though some fans want to use him in that way) and directly answers the question of being "Chinese or Taiwanese" with having heritage from both and being from the USA. He was asked that question many times during his trip to both China and Taiwan by the media. Lin has no problem identifying himself as a Chinese-American, just like he has no problem with identifying as a Taiwanese-American.
Lin's views are consistent with our views as bball fans. He is a xxxx American who just wants to ball. Unfortunately, China views things differently. The slightest thing that might bring any light to Taiwan is immediately brought into a political light. So like it or not, Lin is a political figure in China (even though he is nowhere else in the world).
I lol'd at that rep red poster. good stuff. If he has a stellar night against steve nash, because we all know how awesome nash's d is, we can give lin another 20,000 votes. NBA.com isn't helping out the antilin wave, as they keep plastering his face all over when he makes a measly block on a pf! y u like lin so much, nba????
I don't think they hate Jeremy Lin so much for him being Taiwanese as that he is Taiwanese-American who doesn't speak Chinese. If you think the "old school" traditional Lin haters are bad and irrational on CF, then you haven't seen the "old school" traditional Lin haters over in China. Some of the comments I've been shown are seriously high on the cuckoo scale. Apparently, the Lin haters' nickname for Lin over there is "Eunuch Archvillain." It's not that Lin doesn't have fans over there, it's just that the counter-movement to Lin fandom over there makes counter-movement to Lin fandom in CF look like sane in comparison.
I'm sure some Taiwanese fans try to use Lin as a political figure too, but that doesn't mean that's necessarily the case . It also doesn't take a rocket scientist to recognize that Lin's birth country isn't China or Taiwan. They can use Lin as the "Pride of China" or "Taiwan" all they want, but unless Lin ends up playing for either of those national teams, everything you just said ends up being speculation. It sounds more like paranoia.
