Barring injuries, Heat are pretty much a lock to repeat

Barring a trip to the bar or an encounter with Roseanne Barr, I will eat a Cliff Bar for lunch.

Definitely the favorites but OKC has a good chance assuming they get out of the stacked west. They were only a play or two away last year from making it a real series. Granted Harden is gone, but they still have two guys that on any given night can singlehandedly dominate and takeover a game.

Yes of course they are the favorites. They beat OKC 4 straight games last year in the finals. The heat just need motivation to play their best ball. They coast and then they turn it on when necessary. They did the same with the Mavs in the finals but the Mavs got super hot and they couldn't recover. The Heat are hands down the best team in the league and it isn't even close. Who cares about the regular season. Anyone remember what Lebron did to the Pacers and Celtics last year when he was motivated? But nobody is a "lock". The heat were a lock two years ago and the Mavs caught them slipping. Anything can happen, but it's important to point out that the regular season doesn't mean all that much other than jockeying for a good playoff position.

I'm surprised and bemused to see people talking about the Clippers in a championship thread. They've had a great run, but I don't see them anywhere close to contending.

Even when Jordan was on the Bulls, there has never been any such thing as a "lock" for a title...

There is this other team in the West and they have Jeremy Lin. That would be your lock...

The Heat are my pick to win the championship, but I don't believe they are the best team. This is because the Heat play in the East, and have an easy path to the championship, while the Spurs/Thunder/etc must fight through a tough conference to reach the finals.

Champs are champs and they are a top contender.

One thing NOT going in their favor is that they are one of only a few teams to have played less than 30 games so far (Minn the only squad with less at 27). The 2013 end of the schedule will be more of a grind, on top of the usual accumulation of wear and tear as the 82-game schedule goes on.

That said, I don't see a serious threat for them in the East. They could plow through and get plenty of rest with short series.

Barring an injury to Lebron, they seem like a lock. They not only are better but deeper.

Ohh trust me. When it's hunker down time, I'd take any of these teams against the Heat in a seven game series

    -Spurs
    -Grizzlies
    -Lakers

Any team who's got significant offensive presence in the post will give the Heat alot of **** down the stretch. The only redeeming thing for MIA is that only one Western team will get to the Finals

In Miami's defense... I think it would hurt any West team if several East teams showed up to team up against the single West team.
