I am not sure if anyone follows Royce on Twitter, but I have never seen someone get heckled as much on Twitter. People are cursing him out, calling him garbage and a waste of talent on basically every tweet sent to him.

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>“@<a href="https://twitter.com/sharpelectrstar">sharpelectrstar</a>: @<a href="https://twitter.com/highway_30">highway_30</a> Just remember, when you get the urge to go on a mass shooting, just kill urself 1st *******” <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23BeWell">#BeWell</a> friend..</p>&mdash; Royce White (@Highway_30) <a href="https://twitter.com/Highway_30/status/286135335669342210" data-datetime="2013-01-01T15:42:34+00:00">January 1, 2013</a></blockquote>

This is the last tweet sent to him. I am not a fan of what Royce White is doing, but I personally think you can justify anything like this. What do you guys think?

I think that while Royce has issues, people that write such things prove their own need of emotional/spiritual help.

People that are just wastes at life, like to bully others on the internet, Royce has just managed to get the attention of the community of them that are Rockets or NBA fans with his own antics.

You can't say Royce is completely innocent but yeah, people that go out of their way to attack him are stupid. The kid has never played a regular game as a Rocket and likely wouldn't have played more then garbage time minutes at this point if he was playing but treat him like he has done something unforgivable it is absurd.

Amazing how the online disconnect can turn average people into such hateful scum-bags.

He never really hurt anybody else, he just doesn't want to play basketball. You guys act as if he is a criminal, hateful messages like those are unwarented.

Other stars just don't share it. Recently David Ackers (kicker for the 49ers) had to close his account because of death threats. Happens all the time on twitter. I bet Tony Romo probably gets quite a few hateful tweets o_O. Twitter is just full of nutty people.

I think he deserves it. He does not have any issue before he signed that contract. He used his mental problem as a excuse since he got his contract, what a ******?

He's the one who said (paraphrasing) the Rockets should be careful with how they handle my situation especially in light of the recent actions of other mentally impaired individuals around the country, referencing the sandy hook shooting directly. That's a threat and he's a scumbag.

Well.... He's no felon, but he's certainly a thief (stolen laptop and perhaps a case to be made for stealing money from the Rockets).

Stop feeding this kid the attention he craves, it's best to ignore this fool and let him burn alone. Only then will he learn. I hope???

Let's ignore the responses to White, because I'm not defending those people or interested in Twitter banter in general. Let me just ask you some questions: Wouldn't it have been better if White had decided he doesn't want to play basketball before, you know, actively making himself available for the NBA draft? Eligibility for the NBA draft isn't just some random thing to be taken lightly. You have to take some proactive steps to be drafted out of college. They don't just send some guys over with a van to kidnap you. So White took those steps, and now is most interested not in doing the thing he's been hired to do, but in trashing the very people who stuck their necks out and took a chance on hiring him in the first place.

What would you call somebody who takes money to do a thing and then doesn't do that thing?

A thief? Or do you feel that's too strong? What about just dishonest? Is that probably more fitting?

Get off Tweeter, Royce, its not healthy for you.

I wonder why his "medical professionals" haven't made that advice to him yet.

Yeah, it's scary to think that once negative repercussions are eliminated, some people transform into complete d-bags, almost like this is how they would normally act if it weren't for the negative ramifications of poor and offensive social etiquette.

Although I think Royce has been a massive diva, has been holding the rockets organization hostage and, in general, has been a real wanker, I have to agree that these sort of hateful messages are not warranted. However, a lot of this is the result of Royce's behaviour, and I'm sure he knew that this backlash would come. A lot of what is happening to Royce now, he is primarily responsible for.

Agree with the OP. Two wrongs don't make a right. Royce hasn't handled this situation well at all but people that are telling him to go kill himself are awful. Nobody deserves that kind of treatment.
