Yes clearly my decades worth of basketball knowledge has proven no match for your "comparing PPG stats between two dissimilar players" and months-long ongoing love affair with a single player that would have you comparing his game to Michael Jordan's if you thought it wouldn't get you laughed at. I have been defeated sir.

Zaza Pachulia averages about 9 PPG through his last five games. Do you know who else averages 9 PPG and is therefore the same player?

That's right. The Rockets' own Toney Douglas. It's going to be exciting to watch two similar players go head to head like that.

The comparison doesn't sound any less meaningless whether you make it one time or three times.

Judging by the number of posts you have made and your tone, you clearly don't have very much of a life. Good luck using that bball knowledge in the real world, the rest of us are just fans. Cheers :)

I think if you were to tell Beebeard that an apple costs 99 cents because that's what the sign says, he'd still find a way to argue with you and then go on about his years of watching apples grow off a tree.

You sure you're not "talking to a box of [crack] rock" because if Jeremy Lin is "similar" --> clarified to "statistically similar" to Jeff Teague, then Jeremy Lin is "statistically similar" to pretty much 7/8ths of all starting NBA point guards as well.

Pro tip: Stats are fine as long as they articulate some meaning, or at the very least serve as a basis for differentiation. However you're making the most meaningless comparisons possible. You're so interested in assigning meaning to your valueless comparison, that you're even dismissing wholesale numerous stats that are generally considered VERY important for point guards, like three point shooting. This is understandable, because you view all of basketball through the prism of a single player's statistical performances. But it's still incredibly silly, and so you're being called out on it.

By fans you mean fans of a single player, and ignorance of basketball isn't exactly a valued trait on a basketball forum. It's least of all something you should be somehow proud of as though you are living some sophisticated globe-trotting wealthy lifestyle outside of ClutchFans that nevertheless, evidently, includes your still posting dumb opinions and smug comments on the internet.

Perhaps an important step along the way towards sucking less at this would be to be open to the ideas of posters who aren't just fixated on a single player and are actually interested in the Rockets as a team. But ultimately, I'm not the boss of you. You can make your own choices, but I'd prefer they didn't include continuing to make this board basically unreadable since Jeremy Lin became a Houston Rocket. Get out.

Everytime I read your posts, I'm left scratching my head. Ok genius. Let me break it down for you.

Your orignal arguement was that the only thing similar about Teague and Lin were the position they play. I told you that is not true and that they are also statistically similar in pretty much all categories sans three point shooting. This is a fact. Nothing to argue about here.

I did not mention anything whatsoever about their playstyle nor their athleticism; that was another guy. Nor did I argue the importance of three point shooting for a PG. You're trying desperately to fabricate an argument based on your own assertionss and assumptions.

You're 100% correct. If we only ignore field goal shooting, three point shooting, free throw shooting--shooting in general basically--and then also ignore scoring, and then ALSO go so far as to ignore how both players actually play their positions, Jeff Teague and Jeremy Lin are the same basketball players. Interchangeable. What an enlightening privilege it has been to finally understand your point and to converse with you here. A+

ROFL. I have an assignment for you. It might actually help you in your real life. I really hope it helps you. Since your logic is so flawed, look up the following logic terms: non-sequitur, straw-man, argument from authority. You are a true master at all three. Hats off to you. Rant on and have a nice day.

Jeff Teague is nothing like Jeremy Lin, not because of his "athleticism" or penetrating style of play but because he can actually hit a 3 pointer. At the moment Lin is actually a better finisher at the rim, and that is WITH defenses going under screens.

Wow, I don't know why you ppl are arguing. Who gives a damn if they are similar or not, the fact that so much time is spent on proving a point to someone you don't even know in which the outcome of the matter doesn't affect you personally is ridiculous, unless it does matter to you, then I don't even know what to say because you let stupid things like this affect you. But just let it go, god damn.

    lol

FNGs always post like they have something to prove on this board for whatever reason.

Now... the Rockets will end 2012 like they ended 2011: With a victory over the Hawks.
