Totally agree, it seems like the Texans still get less media and love compared to the - BANNED FROM PLAYOFFS Cowboys lol. The Texans have been smashing and coming up big for a while now and have a shot at the SuperBowl this year if they play up to their potential! JJSWAT is a BAMF!
Wellp, if there was a game to b**** about how conservative the play calling was, it was last night's game.
it should include the lack of execution by the offense too. the Oline never got a push, they failed to convert 2 4th downs in NE territory, and receivers dropping 1st down catches.
Agreed. Jean drops a third down catch on the opening drive; Harris follows by tackling Welker on third down and then the team can't cover up a loose football, leading to Schaub's impatient throw in the end zone to Walter. Hard to pin any of that on the coaches, and if those results bounce the Texans' way, it's a *radically* different game. And consistent with what I was told, re: player mindset this week. New England is too relentless to start that sloppily. Hopefully, the Texans clean it up, win out, and host the rematch.
It's not about that. This game could've been a lot different even playing from behind if the Kubiak wasn't such a p***y. Getting tired of seeing them force the run game when it's not there and there's really no reason to run the ****ing ball when you're down 21 points against the 9th best rush defense.
After they fell behind 21, Schaub threw 26 times to just 10 runs through the end of 3 when he was benched. Altogether, through 3Qs, they dropped back 34 times to just 17 runs; that's a 2:1 pass/run ratio. His 4Q pace was 43 attempts, which would have been a non-OT season high. The problem was not that they weren't passing enough; the problem was that they weren't executing.
Last night's game was definitely on the coaches but a lot of it is on Wade and not Kubiak. Though Kubiak is the head coach and is ultimately responsible. I got tired of seeing NE receivers with just one defender on them. Once the defender got beat there was no one between them and the end zone. I noticed the same thing with the GB game. I don't know if you blame it on the lack of a pass rush without blitzing but at some point the coaches should have figured out man coverage was not working. Or play prevent defense. Can't blame the offense. Yes there were dropped and over/under-thrown passes but the game plan changed when they were down by three touchdowns.
i heard Wade blitzed 57% of the time. Holy crap. all that blitzing with nothing to show for it. i'd rather live with the dump offs in a 4 man rush instead of giving up huge plays for TDs.
Yes play-calling was part of the problem. Not saying that was all of it, of course not. Execution was a big reason, but the coaching on both sides of the ball was terrible last night.
Our defense can't stop a nose bleed! that's our biggest problem as of right now. Blitzing so much and never sending it from the A gap, due to cushing's casualty, has taken a dimension away from our d. Howevah, in the past three games both Ruud and James have gotten there so maybe we will see more soon. We're too good to let guys named chad look like johnny unitas. Get ir done, wade.
Smarter than going on 4th down on their own 12 yard line with 2 timeouts and a 2 minute warning timeout.
Anyone care to disagree with me that Kubiak isnt a big game coach? I said it from the start of this thread and the past 5 weeks have proven my point. The guy plays too scared to win big games.
Agreed. He's always been criticized for playing not to lose. He's overly conservative. He's too nervous to watch field goals attempts. He's kind of a p***y and I think you see that rub off on the team somewhat. And when a big game comes up, he and the team just shrink. He doesn't know how to handle it. National TV games this year. Green Bay - flopped. Chicago - didn't play well but won in the slop. Detroit - played awful against one of the worst teams in the NFC, should've lost, but a few lucky breaks gifted us a W. New England - megaflop. Games where we could clinch HFA. Minnesota - flop. Indy - flop. All the games where people were really paying attention to us, GB, NE, MIN, IND and there's not one thing in any of those games to be proud of. Playoffs? Pffffft. Yeah, right. This is a 6-10/7-9 team in a 12-4 body.
I'll humor you. What would you like him to do differently? Let's take today's game as an example. The one thing I had a problem with was the long FG attempt that was missed. I knew there was no way he'd make that. The other big screw ups were Schaub's first INT and the KO return. It's hard not to be conservative when your QB is so limited.
I dont like our playcalling....he is stubborn and he likes to stick to certain plays. He doesnt adjust his offensive game plan throughout the course of the game. We've scored 3 offensive TDs in the last 4 games...our offense is brutal to watch because we dont change things up, its the same crap plays over and over again. When you have a team that doesnt show up over the last two weeks, when so much is on the line, maybe we should be looking at the man who is supposed to get these guys ready. Sorry, Kubiak just doesnt have the mentality I want in a coach. If the Texans win, it's despite Kubiak, not because of him.
better calls on 3rd and long (got going for draws and screens that go nowhere on 3rd down.) more no huddle shotgun passing when we're down. allow your qb more freedom at the line. never hire joe marciano in the first place.
