Royce White refuses assignment to D-League (UPDATE: Rockets suspend him)

No he wouldn't. He can speak about his medical condition publicly as much as he wants. The team, by law, has to spect his medical privacy. White can lie much as we wants and, be real here, White he yet to be specific about anything. Anything.

 

What's more likely is that Royce White has his own personal doctors who have coddled him all his life and have told him what he wants to hear. The team has their own doctors, who are unbiased, and who White won't listen to.

White's doctors are probably trying to squeeze money out of him, otherwise they would tell him to do what the team says, and he would listen to them.

 

I Concur, I would support him if he decides he wants to be a basketball player for the Rockets but right now it just feels like he's just gearing up for a legal battle, one akin to those insurance scams in Russia. Yes, it just feels like this guy is staging a fraud.

 

That's the problem here, his own doctor, being a GP, is not a mental health professional. That's exactly what he's accusing morey and the front office for in that letter.

 

If the doctor's response to the team is basically something like White will have a sissy fit if you don't play him major minutes, what's Morey suppose to do? Force him into the rotation over Morris, Greg Smith, DMo, and Jones?

No. Morey would assign him to the RGV and hope for the best. His next move though, is still uncertain.

Agree with this assessment.

Basically the rockets are building up legal grounds so they don't get sued, which is smart from an organizational perspective.

IFFFFF the Rockets doctors suggested consistent playing time with the Houston Rockets to solve this problem, then I can genuinely see no viable solution to this problem. The Rockets can't give someone playing time unless they're in shape, they know the plays and they deserve to play.

It is sad. My hope is that the only obstacle is putting in place a sufficient organizational policy for dealing with this issue and then White starts becoming a part of this team starting with the Vipers.

At this point, I think White's statements and Rockets general silence indicates that he is telling all the truth and they are telling part of the truth - in public at least. That would be dissapointing. If there's no solution, I hope the Rockets handle this honestly and openly. One thing we can not afford is getting a reputation among NBA players that we are secretive, deceptive and predatory towards the players. If we're cleaning our plate of this mess, let's make sure it's spotless and painless.

 

Don't think it's about consistent minutes, to me it sounds like he maybe wants a personal doctor/therapist with him for every game or something like that. His tweets say the current CBA is the problem because the protocol is deep and something never done before.

My thinking right now is that he wants a personal doctor committed to him and with him for every game, unless that happens he won't want to play because of fear.

 

Given that from past examples the only doctor Royce seems to trust is his own doctors, and the fact that an old ESPN article on Royce has mentioned that the doctor he sees for mental health is a general practitioner, I'm very leery of who Royce considers these doctors that he mentions, given that he didn't mention any names to indicate WHICH doctors.

Basically, his doctor(s) are greedy and want to milk the Rockets organization and have convinced Royce that they are indispensable to him.

If Royce was so concerned about his mental health, he would just pay them out of his own pocket, but it seems that his doctors are asking for lots of $$.


We need to get the names of his doctors and expose them for the greedy SOBs they are.
