Correlation is not causation. What that means is that just because two things coincide, it doesn't mean one caused the other. I ate a cheeseburger today, and also had bad allergies and was sneezing constantly. Are the allergies because of the cheeseburger? NO!

Don't you think us losing the last couple of games might have something to do with the fact that we were playing two of the best teams in the NBA? Or that we have played 4 games in 5 nights? Or that the officiating was against us in both games?

Delfino is playing like garbage. The absence of our worst bench player does not make nearly as big of a difference as the level of competition and playing on a back to back.

Glad to see Kevin Martin doing well, he's perfect for that 6th man role. Of course with us he would've never accepted that role but for the Thunder, you would take anything you can get.

One question, I said that the coach McHale was the worst of the last two games of Houston
With a better coach, Houston would have won the last two games for me
So what is more important to the Houston now, hire a coach best or 1 experienced player to be the team leader?

Why is McHale the worst coach? I don't think he's the reason we lost, and think he does a great job with this young roster.

Makes me wonder, does Harden regret not signing an extension with OKC for less than minimum?

I'll give ya 80 million reasons why he doesn't regret it. Plus, he can be the man now and it's not like the team sucks balls.

I wouldn't waste your time posting this stat. It tries to rank/rate the performance of players in a game only from simple box score data.

I doesn't account for things players do on court like good D or hockey assists that don't end up on the stat sheet but help their team win. Conversely it overvalues stat sheet stuffing. It would undervalue the performance of players like Tony Alllen who don't have big numbers in the stat sheet but play lockdown D.

Although pure (+/-) stats can be misleading without context(play by play box score) at least a player like Tony Allen would get credit for good D with a better +/- score for the time he was on the court.

Wonder what his percentage is with his toes on the three-point line. Seems to make too many of these..

Only stat that matters is a W! Two tough losses but going 7 and 3 in the last stretch is not a loss cause. The next 10 games should all be winnable with another quiz with the Clippers!

This Rockets coaching staff has no creativaty on offense. Need more pick n roll. Okc pick n roll the rockets to death with westbrook and ibaka.

and why is Mchale playing Lin as a spot up shooter and toney d as a pg even when Harden was not in the game. we all know toney d is a better 4 point shooter than Lin and still Mchale still plays Lin as a 2g.

The thing is +/- doesn't show that Tony Allen played great d. Tell me how possessions Tony Allen played great d when he was in the game. Was it 1? 5? 25? Your talking about the Memphis game against the Roxs right?

    Tony Allen had a -10

So you're saying Tony Allen's great D was worth -10?

That's the thing, you can't conclude anything from +/-. I'm not trying to be facetious, but I am trying to make a case that +/- is an awfully horrendous stat.

I readily agree that GmSc is an imperfect stat, but at least it correlates to what happened in the game. I've seriously have look at just about every alternative stat to answer one question: Who contributed most to the team in one particular game. GmSc is the best, right now, at doing so. At least GmSc puts linear weights on the various box score stats to come up with an approximation that's exponentially more useful that anything that +/- can conclude.

I've also looked at parsing gamelogs to come up with my own stat system. The problem is that gamelogs aren't much more than box scores.
