And yet we all know that the All-Defensive team voters won't see it that way.

    How old are you?

and jordan was head and shoulders millions times better than kobe. Anyone that compares kobe to jordan should have their head checked.

Jordan carried teams by himself and willed his team to win. I dont like jordans arrogance but you cant argue that he wasnt a great great player.

Kobe is a chucker and lucky to have some good players around him to mask his deficiencies. Kobe couldnt hold jordans jock on a good night.

Anyone that thinks kobe is anywhere near jordan has to be under 15 years old. It's that simple.

Exactly. Kobe has an All-Star starting lineup around him. Howard, Gasol, Metta, Nash... Jordan would never have tolerated sucking this much with that team.

Either you completely misunderstood, or you're not very bright yourself.

Not comparing Kobe and MJ is exactly my point. All it does is allow Kobe-haters to reiterate their positions.

Well, maybe Kobe's stats this year is better than Jordan but Jordan has 4 more NBA MVPs, 4 more Finals MVP, 1 more ring, and about 2000 more points than Kobe.

probably not true. Jordan was just more discreet. I heard once on the radio that a bimbo had to get through 4 ex-CIA agents.

Kobe freed from triangle offense. Imagine Jordan in today's soft NBA game with no hand-checking, no centers, nonhard fouls, running PnRs with Dwight Howard.

Do you even watch or play basketball? If you think there is no hand-checking in the NBA you don't watch games. Hand-checking doesn't stop me from scoring, but I am sure it would stop Kobe.

No ilegall defense and zone defense were much bigger and more important adjustments. We're currently in most defensive minded era of all time, because of no ilegall defense, zone and advanced stats. Jordan played in the era where it was easier to score, which is not hard to prove:

Michael Jordan – Height: 6’6 Playing Weight: 215 lbs
Average Era Defender – Height: 6’4.4 Weight: 201.6 lbs

Kobe Bryant – Height: 6’6 Playing Weight: 205 lbs
Average Era Defender – Height: 6’6.3 Weight: 219.7 lbs

Magic Era – Average Team in League PPG: 108.85
Bird Era – Average Team in League PPG: 108.58
Jordan Era – Average Team in League PPG: 105.01
Kobe Era – Average Team in League PPG: 96.84
Lebron Era – Average Team in League PPG: 98.06
Durant Era – Average Team in League PPG: 99.24

The pace of the NBA has changed many times and players like Magic, Bird, and Jordan’s number are inflated because of it. Their teams averaged more possessions and more points per game than the players of today.Kobe has had the worst of it, but the game has picked up some in recent years.

    Magic Era – Avg FG: 48.33% Avg SF FG%: 47.94 Magic FG%: 52.0
    Bird Era – Avg FG%: 48.25 Avg PF FG%: 50.1 Bird FG%: 49.6%
    Jordan Era – Avg FG% 47.44 Avg SG FG%: 46.28 Jordan FG%: 49.7%
    Kobe Era – Avg FG%: 45.01 Avg SG FG%: 41.74 Kobe FG%: 45.3
    Lebron Era – Avg FG%: 45.35 Avg SF FG%: 45.27 Lebron FG%: 48.6
    Durant Era – Avg FG%: 45.68 Avg SF FG%: 45.33 Durant FG%: 47.1

Magic, Bird, and Jordan played in an era where the average player shot a higher percentage than the players of today. This is not surprising since the NBA has gotten a lot more talented from top to bottom in the last 15 years. The NBA has gotten an increase in athleticism, wingspan averages entering the draft, and defensive specialists. Jordan shot 49.7% from the floor but the average shooting guard in the league was shooting 46.28% (Jordan +3.42%) at the time. That is significantly higher than the average of 41.74% that the average shooting guard has shot during the Kobe era. It is therefore not surprising that Kobe is shooting 45.3% from the floor (Kobe +3.56%).

    Also:

    Michael Jordan – 30.1 PPG, 12192 FG 24537 FGA, 49.7 FG%, 581 3P 1778 3PA, 32.7 3P%, 83.5 FT%, 50.9 eFG%, 56.9 TS%, 7.2% of shots were 3-pointers, 51% shots in paint

    Kobe Bryant – 25.5 PPG, 10595 FG 23352 FGA, 45.4 FG%, 1570 3P 4647 3PA, 33.8 3P%, 83.8 FT%, 48.7 eFG%, 55.5 TS%, 19.7% of shots were 3-pointers, 34% shots in paint

Jordan got fair amount of easy baskets. Was he better halfcourt scorer than Kobe? No.

Heart, drive, and a life long sense of destiny and willingness to adjust every aspect of his character, persona and abilities to meet his goals: Jordan - ∞, Kobe - alleged aggravated rape.

    There isn't hand-checking today.

Out of curiosity, what do you think hand-checking is?

See, some people would look at this information and say well, it was easier to score back as if the league was easier but I'd argue that the all around talent level of the league was better back then. We've added what, 4 expansion teams since that time? The league is watered down now. Jordan is putting up 40, 50 & 60 point playoff games on the reg against some of the best competition ever seen with lax defensive rules [did you watch the 94 finals?] Celtic's dynasty team. The late 80's Pistons. Riley's Knicks. Barkley's Suns. Kobe is getting his 81 against an atrocious near expansion Toronto squad.

Not taking anything away from the man. Kobe is what he is. The second best SG to play the game.
