I think eventually they need to give up on the pace somewhat, and build more on defense. But I agree that for a young team, they played really well against a championship team.

i think would have been at par with the Spurs in scoring with Defino.
He would have match Greens 3's in the 1st quarter.

However we would have lost due to our inferior D in the 4th quarter.

I agree with you that Aldrich did very well; I think he is one of the reasons we were close at the half.

No one could check Duncan so even though Asik and Greg weren't playing their best they have shown what they can do in winning time. Greg will catch the ball Asik will secure the rebound and protect the paint 2 things Aldrich failed at at a crucial point in the 4th.

I feel with a young team the players that are supposed to be the guys you should give them the opportunity to play out of it.

@Jonathan_Feigen: Harden said he still does not know why he was called for a foul on the jump ball.

For those complaining about Harden's D, give Green credit. Dude gets hot on anybody, he's been on a tear lately.

It makes more sense to throw Aldrich into the fire and give him more minutes against his former team OKC than the Spurs.

you're right that the absence of carlitos hurt us big time. in the fourth, when harden was sitting and everybody else didn't know what to do once they got a pass, carlitos would have hit a couple of 3s.

but we can't play at this pace game game in and game out. we will die like war horses in battle! I was just reiterating mchale's own words that we need to play 10 for this pace.

maybe the camby like trade at the deadline will help.

Not so crazy here. 11 of 32 from the 3 pt line isn't too pretty. Delfino might've made a difference if he had some of those attempts, but he's so streaky it's hard to tell.

Loved the overall team effort though. It really felt like a playoffs game

Agreed. It is not the way to build confidence in your players to just yank them and not see if they can bounce back. You have to let guys play through the rough parts of the game.

We scored 116 points on one of the top defenses in the league(yea, another one) on above 50% shooting.

With or without more screens, our offense is fine.

Pathetic how people who have never coached a day in their lives will complain about anything when it comes to McHale.

That's what I said. Some dude was arguing with me on how Lin wasn't all that good because the other +/- was so much better. I'm like really? In one game Marcus Morris had 16 and Lin had 15, does that mean you get rid of Lin for Morris if there was only one starting position available. Hmmm...

Agree and disagree. For one, the game was much worse than what the score indicated. I agree with you that the rotations still developing. But saying that the defence was subpar because of transition is my main disagreement. Transition points are had because of defence and creating turnovers. the spurs did a good job on their part to keep their half-court sets moving and PnR working in a faster paced game, and we did a poor job defending that. Transition is not to blame because of this.

STAT as in STAT or STAT as in STAT? Yes to the first one, NO to the second one.

Hardens D has been poor all season it is quickly becoming a problem now. In the most recent Utah game he had Randy Foye looking like a superstar. Yes Green is hot but Harden doesn't even look like he tries sometimes. Nobody asks for elite defense I would just be satisfied with consistent effort on that end. McHale needs to hold him accountable on that end & McHale hasn't been.

I don't understand this either! Can someone explain why we can't do this?

One of the reasons why I liked that the Rockets gets multiple chances to see this Spurs in a season and one of the reasons why I liked that McHale essentially put his starters through the wringer is he basically is forcing Pop to pull out 'the works' against the Rockets. It's good experience for the starters to get, and good info for Morey's stat-crunchers.
