Someone had to make the thread, so that we can all vent and get it out. That game (@ Spurs) was as poorly officiated by Jason Phillips (notoriously bad referee) and his crew as any I've ever seen. Truly made it hard to watch. The flop by Patty Mills on Jeremy just capped off that pathetic night. I expect that the Rockets will send that video in to the league office. Hope we don't get a back-to-back backside ramming by the refs in OKC tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath.
Whatever. The Spurs outplayed us. We were 15-26 from the free throw line, and the Spurs were 22-24. Fouls were called pretty evenly.
I thought the play near the end of the 3rd quarter when we were within 2 when the ball dribbled off the ref and they said Harden didn't have control over it and Ginobli made a 3 with 6 seconds on the shot clock.... Ughh.....
Rep'd... I mean seriously, even Sean Elliott was even saying that a smorgasbord of fouls were questionable. If you ever watch the Spurs, you know that is rarely the case. On another note, were there things we could have done to win the game? Yes. There are always ways that you can win sans poor officiating, but to act as though that was equitable is just ludicrous.
Didn't the spurs pull away from us as soon as harden sat due to his 5th foul? Not to mention they went ice cold in the beginning of the 4th.
I agree, but how many games is the team going to win when they turn the ball over 24 times, shoot 57% from the ft line? Did you see their rotation defence? This team has a terrible time fighting through ball screens, and the fade screen. Also, we as a team bit on so many ball fakes I almost threw my labtop across the room.
I thought the game was fairly evenly called. Not to say that the refs always made the correct call, but the Spurs played well and some of their shots dropped in while ours didn't. Also the Rockets didn't shoot the 3 particularly well tonight which is usually what puts us in a position to win the game...
I thought the only dispute there was whether or not the shot clock was gonna be 24 seconds vs 6 seconds
I watched game, refs were ****ty tonight, but not only against us, they made some bad calls on Spurs too. Sure the couple of flops in the beginning of 4th quarter changed the momentum of the game. I think the refs should at least call one of them flop, but Spurs did out play us, their bench played much better than ours. For a young team like Rockets, its actually good to learn from this kind games.
It was really frustrating when the officials gave Harden the 5th foul. I mean, he was jumping up for the ball just like Tiago but Tiago decides to flop like always. The Rockets played hard tonight and both teams were hitting every thing. But the officials giving Harden that terrible 5th foul was really crucial and it took him out of the game.
The officiating was bad for everybody, not just the Rockets. What really lost the game, though, was the pathetic defense. Wide open shots all game long.
How many times does a team lose a game shooting 52%, out-rebounding its opponent by 11 (including +8 on the offensive end), and assisting on 60% of its field goals? There are things to point out both ways on that end. But to actually think that was a fairly called game is laughable.
This is BS, I thought refs were pretty bad but fair, they gave some unbelievable calls to Spurs, but there were also make-up calls for Harden too. Some of the Harden drive is initiated by Harden and should not be a foul against Spurs. You guys never questioned when Harden draw so many fouls, and take as granted, now we are losing and you start pointing at refs? This is pure BS.
Having your opponent shoot 57%, 50% from 3, and make almost all of their FTs, in addition to having the refs suck their D? Yeah.
