This bowl season seems absolutely wretched. Also sad/funny for Kent St to go from the Orange Bowl to the GoDaddy Bowl vs. Arkansas State due to a double OT loss. Only interesting games seem to be: LSU/Clemson A&M/OU K-State/Oregon Alabama/ND
Alright I'm bumping this thread. There have been some good bowls so far. Anybody in a bowl pick 'em league?
If they can get a defense that is decent then they can be a scary team. I still can't believe that Arizona scored two TD's in the last 43 seconds to steal that game against nevada.
I long for when New Years Day meant something for college bowls. The slow drip leading up to the BCS title game has almost destroyed my interest in the bowl season.
If you're staying in tonight, Texas Tech/Minnesota at Reliant Stadium is a surprisingly good game. I expected Tech to blow the Gophers out, but that hasn't been the case. Both offenses are moving the ball pretty well and both teams have been a bit chippy, which makes things even better.
I have to ask.... why is Logan Thomas getting NFL attention? And I was told this on Twitter: What gives?
I honestly have no idea, other than the fact that he has nearly ideal measurables and scouts love that kind of stuff. Mel Kiper had him as a top five draft pick before the season. I figured with the type of season he has had, Thomas would have fallen quite a bit, but I guess that's not necessarily the case.
Logan Thomas looked terrible. Yet somehow Gary Nova looked even worst. He was playing scared and threw the ball all over the place. Matt Millen was tearing him apart. Just an awful game for anyone who bought a ticket for that bowl game. Pouring rain and crappy game.
I was there, and the Car Care bowl is likely going to be one of the best, if not the best bowl games of the season. It had everything; big plays, huge defensive stops, fights (more than I have seen in any game in recent memory), crazy penalties ( Minny was 4th and 49 at one point). Great game.
Rice Owls are playing in the Armed Forces Bowl against Air Force Falcons. Game starts at 10:30 AM. Good luck to them representing the Greater Houston area.
I thought about going, considering you could get tickets for a song, but I just wasn't going to be able to make it down there on time. Apparently all Tech and Minnesota do when they get together is play great games. They showed highlights last night of the game those two played in the Insight Bowl several years back. That was the game in which Tech set the record for largest comeback in bowl history. It was also the game that really set Minnesota football back. Largely because of that loss, Glen Mason was fired even though he had taken the Gophers to seven bowl games in eight seasons. They then hired Tim Brewster who proceeded to do worse than Mason, of course.
Halftime: Air Force 14, Rice 7. The Owls had a chance to tie but fumble the ball away in the goal-line.
