Reading the comments there after reading the comments here is pretty hilarious. Thanks for the laugh. Fans here: Lin 3rd place? NOOOOOO!!!!!! Damn the Chinese!!! Chinese fans: Hey, Kobe's #1 vote getter. Dude's popular and awesome!
If you can read Chinese, here is the link to a survey done by one of the top Chinese Sports website, you can see for yourself that Chinese basketball fans actually are voting for CP over Lin! 47.9% support CP, 35.2% support Lin. I am surprised by this survey result. http://survey.sports.sina.com.cn/result/75487.html?f=1 ( I saw that lpy3 posted the link earlier, just want to mention the result briefly for people who can't read Chinese.)
Griffin gets in as a starter. Kevin Love is arguable among the coaches since he's also missed games. Portland probably gets only one with LA or Batum, but again it's arguable among the coaches how much they consider team standings. Assuming Lin gets voted in as a starter and plays, I think Harden still gets in because it's in Houston and he's one of the leading scorers. So far he he's averaging near 25, 5, 5 which is pretty good. Also teammates sometimes try to get the hometown player the MVP and I see Lin passing more than trying to score. Some of the other questionable players can get in if a player pulls out due to injury.
I wouldn't spend much more time to figure out different fan reactions to Lin and the Rockets. There are idiots everywhere and on any side. No amount of time will change that even after being a noobie wears out. The ironic thing is that Houston is a fair weather city for sports outside of football. We should be used to dealing with newbs.... So I don't think it matters what you're 'initially' interested in as long as you're a solid contributor. Time will settle out whether people will stick to the Rockets or not.
This is true. Lin already has a #1 hater on the Lakers forums, even mentioning Clutch fans!. http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=153574&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25 http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=154461&start=25
he will...perhaps even become all-star MVP ...i wonder what those who think he doesnt deserve it would have said then....
Lin is not getting that many votes from China as you thought actually. The logic of Chinese Lin hates: 1. Lin is American, not Chinese. Why doesn't he change his nationality to Chinese? 2. Lin can't speak Chinese. 3. Lin is from Taiwan. 4. Lin doesn't play for the Chinese national team. --> So I hate him.
I just don't get it...why are some people hate on JLin when he is such a good guy...why so harsh on the kid when up until now he has been a good example for a lot of people..what he is receiving right now are fruits of his hard labors so why the hate..
ppl have their own viewpoint. If you don't agree with them; ignore is the best way to go. I don't get. when normal ppl don't love someone, they just don't click the post that relate to the person and just don't want to wast their time on something that is not important for themselves. but I see the different, they want to destroy the person or change other ppl's view like a mad man.
How is that bull rap? Mainlanders tend to expect ethnic Chinese to speak the language and want to live in china, no matter where that person grew up.
You really think that Chinese and Taiwanese (and Chinese American) are the same? And support each other? Because they look similar to you? Do you think the Arabs and the Jews always support each other too?
I love how you just left out the greatly exaggerated "eek" emoticon to convey that it was in humor. Yes I am Chinese American and yes I was being sarcastic about the entire Chinese invasion. I don't hate Lin, but I do dislike most of his fans (they remind me of Tebow fans) and I do think Lin is overrated. You just seem to be overly sensitive and need to chill and learn to read humor.
Your view is consistent with most Chinese Americans I have met. Two Chinese American ballers both told me recently that Lin does not have outstanding athleticism or any particularly strong skill. Guess they bought into the media stereotypes, as Lin was at the top of the charts in agility tests for both the Knicks and Rockets (highest score ever recorded as Knick, I believe).
First of all, if you can read Chinese, why don't you just translate it? Secondly, it's not a "survey" AT ALL. It's an online-poll only. No data of margin of error, confidence level & whatsoever. Without these, the result means nothing. == OK, now here's the translation. == What's your opinion on the 2nd All-star returns? (1) Who do you think will lead the all-star vote in the end? (a) Kobe (62.9% with 39,898 votes) (b) LeBron James (33.7% with 21,402 votes) (c) others (3.4% with 2,128 votes) (2) Do you support Jeremy Lin to be selected as an all-star? (1) No, Chris Paul is better than him. (46.8%, 29,679 votes) (2) Yes, hope Linsanity continues. (36.0% with 22,821) (3) I don't care. (17.2% with 10,927 votes)
