Why that stupid move with Jeremy Lin? Why cut yourself short by not keeping him at minimum wage versus paying him $25 million.
As a General Manager how hard is it to balance looking at the teams long term interests while trying to protect your job which is usually judged in the short term? Does the constant movement of players hurt players confidence in organization loyalty or is this a problem with younger players who don't realize the amount of business in the NBA? Do you think this constant revolving door of players hurts the Rockets in free agency or does it show willingness to do anything to win?
Could the Harden deal still exist without the Toronto sure lottery pick? We gave up a high prospect in Jeremy lamb and a proven scorer in Kevin Martin. We gave up a lot, including the kitchen sink, but that pick is a sure top 5 pick. Just look at next year's draft class. http://hoopshype.com/draft.htm
What do you think attendance will be like in two years with only 35% of the area being able to watch the team on television?
Great question. I'd want to know how far he and Presti would have been from a deal if the Toronto pick were kept off the table. Would other assets have sufficed instead? Does the deal get done or not? Only Morey and Presti know for sure. It's a bit academic, because even *with* that pick included, Harden has turned out to be a heck of a steal--a person would have to be incredibly dense to think otherwise--but it's still fun to fantasize about Harden playing on this current roster, and THEN playing alongside a high draft pick next season! That amps up the Harden deal from great to amazing.
In retrospect aren't you happy that your plan to acquire Gasol and Nene didn't come to fruition? Be honest Daryl.
My questions: * Please provide us with the evidence you have to justify your GM status * What are you please with in regards to your Rockets career * What would like to improve upon, change, or do different * Name the best player you every draft * The player you regret having to trade * What is your process in selecting free agents and draftees * Would you trade Parsons, Lin, and Harden for LeBron James
Might want to scroll through some of his answers to a bunch of questions in case he may have already answered it here. http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/10mrkx/iam_the_houston_rockets_gm_ama/
Clutch
Do you think it would be possible to ask DM or some other member of Rockets management (Sam Hinkie? Gersson Rosas?) if they would potentially be interested in doing a Clutchfans AMA? I mean he's already done a reddit one. A Clutchfans one would be cool for obvious reasons (actually a Rockets fanbase :grin compared to reddit.
What are his expectations for the team 2 years from now? (Context is Les Alexander's statement that he will give Morey's approach 2 more years to decide whether he will continue with it or not.)
Yes. Did he voice an opinion When Les made the Comcast deal? And regardless of his opinion mattering or not with Les on said question, how does he feel about the fans who are all of a sudden in the dark with watching game son TV? Does he expect us to shell out extra money (or more than previous years) to watch these games or go to games? Are they expecting us to go to more games because of this deal and how is that fair?
Yeah the reddit one seemed more infactuated with the fact hes a stats-geek along with esports and things of that nature. There were some good bball related questions though.
