Harden just did a live version of the Kevin Love to Houston recruitment video. Right in front of his face as Love watched JJ Berea flounder as Harden drives by him. That impression is going to last in Love's mind.

In general I say its bad because that means your teammates are standing around not active in the play. When they play team ball, pass, cut, etc you have a much better chance of making an easy shot, getting a rebound for second chance opportunities etc.

Having said that, there is a time and place for ISO ball and it is at the end of the 4th quarter with the game on the line--for a legitimate SUPERSTAR only though. Sometimes, an individual player has to "will" his team to a win and then takes the team on his back and makes it happen. Kobe, Michael, Durant, Lebron come to mind. Is Harden a good ISO player? Yes and No. Its been more yes lately but he clearly has a ways to go. Having said that, you can see where it is effective since the rest of the team is looking to their superstar to help. I HATE it when Harden ISOs in quarters 1-3 because there really isn't any need for that. On occassion, sure, but those shots are typically low-percentage since you have a defender in your face and not many guys can pull it off.

He got clobbered and was injured earlier in the game. I hope he's OK.

I wouldn't necessarily call his last two possessions ISO plays. He didn't waste time and drove to the rim fast. Traditional Harden ISO plays to me is when he just stands there till there's 5 seconds left on the shotclock and then he does something.

ISO plays are good in one situation (and listen because this comes directly from Daryl Morey): When you're trying to manage the clock at the end of a quarter. ISO is really the only play you can make which ensures you will get your shot up at the right time to get a 2 for 1 and at the shot clock buzzer.

According to Morey, this is why superstar shot creators are so important, because they're the only ones who can make these plays with a decent percentage. At all other times you can get away with just being a strong team, but up to 8 possessions per game you get into a situation where it is crucial to have a superstar. And that can very often make the difference between winning and losing if it's a tight game.

I'm glad we got our shtt together and took it home to beat the refs today. I think the Wolves also scored a few points.

I would give away every 4 the Rockets had for a consistent 14/8 guy.

I couldn't disagree with you more.

    1. When Harden and Lin are on the floor, both of whom are best at playmaking, how the hell we need Delfino to 'take the pressure' off when our issue has been Lin not having enough chance of playmaking when Harden is also handling the ball. The playmaking role is shared by so many (even Parsons sometimes makes plays) that the last thing we need is another playmaker. If anything, he is not 'taking the pressure off of those guys' by play making, he is taking these guys strength away.

    2. Why the hell do you want any player to jack up the shots? As great as Kobe, he is even criticized because he jacks up shots sometimes. Jacking up shots is NEVER a good thing for the team. More often than not, it will shoot the team out of the game. Recent lesson: Ramon Felton.

I think you are crazy in your comment. But if you are DOF, I forgive you. :p

This team isnt about maxing out a possession, bc we dont have a true post threat...This team however is about taking and creating as many shots possible and running with every chance they get..Minny slowed us down with excellent perimeter defense and it also helps that KLove had a real off night

Very good win. These types of games we were losing at the beginning of the season, and it's good to see that has changed. Harden was HUGE down the stretch.

I realized that Rick Adelman really doesnt like Derrick Williams. He was playing well when he was on the floor...

Their lineup should be Pekovic, Love, Williams, Syved, and Rubio(once healthy)
