Actually Davis is the best prospect in the draft for the last 5 or more years. He is an amazing athlete - off the charts - who is 6'10' with a 7'6" wingspan. I can't think of a player like him at the PF spot in the history of the NBA. He has a chance to redefine the PF position. That good. I could say a lot more than that about his game and how it could map into the NBA. Another day.
The only thing certain about Davis is that he should be an excellent shot blocker with his freakish arms, so I'm wondering how many bpg will Davis have his rookie season? For reference, here's rookie season blocks per game from some of the big time shot blockers from the past 30 yrs: Bol: 5.0 Robinson: 3.9 Eaton: 3.4 O'Neal: 3.5 Mourning: 3.5 Bradley: 3.0 Mutombo: 3.0 Olajuwon: 2.7 Duncan: 2.5 Sampson: 2.4 Ewing: 2.1 Yao: 1.8 Howard: 1.7 Assuming he doesn't have foul problems, I'm thinking he's capable of averaging at least 3.5 out of the gate, we'll see..
I don't think he'll be nearly as good as people think either. 2nd or 3rd best player on a championship team at best.
Well so far injury prone needs to get stronger and bigger physically... He hasn't impact the win column so far and Rivers has been awful... But Davis has a chance to be an ALL Star some day because of his size and pontential...
How do people end up bumbing these old threads? It seems like there's one or two every week. Do they just go 200 pages back for no reason and look for stuff to bump?
Not sure how you can say this when he is averaging 14.6 points on .500 (FG%) and .841 (FT%) not to mention he is collecting 8.2 rebounds to go with 1.1 steals and 1.8 blocks and has only played 14 games in the NBA. Do we have anyone on this team in the post doing this?? Nope! Do we wish we had someone doing this? Yep!! Really premature statement there!
