We've looked bad but I still believe. The coaches will work out the kinks and be a force in the playoffs. Denver scares the hell out of me
you mean the same qb that torched that denver's defense, a defense which is still vulnerable to giving up the entire middle of the field? and that manning dude who couldn't capitalize on the tom foolery of ben tate's reckless carry? yeah I'm not afraid of them. ** ** however the way the line played sunday, the 2010 texans defense would obliterate our pass protection. They'll get things fixed though.
Brady has a much better playoff resume than Peyton. I'm not arguing who's the better QB, just that Brady has been harder to beat in the playoffs. Baltimore, Cincy, and Indy are all terribly flawed teams. The Texans have major issues too, but nothing that shouldn't be overcome against those three.
to be honest, i dont want to see gary kubiak and matt schaub in the playoffs. i dont want to see them at all.
hey, look at me. i don't think the Texans can win so i'll root for them to lose just so i can look cool and say i told you so.
Our realistic best hope is that we get the 1 seed, Indy beats the Ravens (who aren't as good as their record so it's very possible) and play Denver in the AFCCG. If Cincy can stun New England and the Colts/Ravens can do the same to Denver then the road to the super bowl gets easier. But the only team I don't want to see at all in New England. everyone else is a team the Texans already beat, this season or during the playoffs last year at the same venue.
Summary of all possible playoff teams: Texans: Patriots, 49ers, and Packers (QBs who can exploit their defense and rattle Schaub) Falcons: 49ers, Patriots, and Packers (Teams that are more or just as talented as they are and possibly have a greater will to win. Most of all, teams that can exploit their questionable pass defense and inconsistent run defense). Patriots: 49ers and Seahawks (Teams that can slow them down offensively and get after the QB, yet put points on their defense). On a really good day, I might add Bengals and Falcons, but both teams are too inconsistent on either side to really beat a team, like New England. The Bengals offense comes and goes, as much as the Falcons defense can look elite one week and be suspect the next. Packers: 49ers and Seahawks (Any team that can slow them down alot offensively, and run the ball against them). Broncos: Texans, Patriots, and Packers (More talented teams) Vikings: Falcons, Packers, Patriots, or Broncos (Any team they'd have to beat in a shootout). Seahawks: Spoiler role Redskins: Spoiler role Colts, Bengals: Pretty much any team they face.
I want to play Patriots again, either we learn, or we never learn to win. I don't want to avoid the best teams. In a 1 game playoffs, I'll take my chances on any teams. If I had to pick the team the Texans to avoid, it is the Broncos. Manning has always had our number and giving his winning ways now, it is not easy to beat the QB right now. I wouldn't mind Broncos and Patriots get bloodied, or Ravens and Bengals get bloodied. The more they give out on those games, the better chance we win against a tired team, mentally and phyically.
THIS^^^ The last thing I would want is for us to be the 3 seed yet have a low man's route to the Super Bowl (Hosting Baltimore, then travelling to New England, then travelling to Denver just to make it the Big Game) The way we're playing right now, I would be absolutely floored if we were able to put together that many good games in a row to make a SB. But with that being said, I think in a vacuum we can beat anyone in the AFC at home or away EXCEPT for New England. I just don't think we matchup very well with them. Their TE's, plus their slot receivers will/have given us fits. Not to mention, I just can't imagine Gary out-coaching Bill in the playoffs
I'm surprised no one has mentioned this... It seems pretty obvious to me. There is nothing wrong with the defense. I repeat, NOTHING wrong with the defense. The Texans secondary is vulnerable to high powered passing games, just like EVERY OTHER SECONDARY in the league. The problem in all three of their losses has been the offense. Too many three and outs and turnovers at crucial times. They leave the D on the field for far too long and don't help out at all with time of possession. If you lose time of possession to Peyton, Brady, Rogers, and even AD... You'll lose the game 95% of the time. The D even stepped up during the 2nd quarter of the Patriots game and forced several three and outs, but the offense did absolutely NOTHING to capitalize. One touchdown during that stretch would have changed the game. A better question is: what's wrong with the offense? The more I think about it, it looks like they've been holding back. The offensive explosion that we saw earlier in the season couldn't have just disappeared into thin air. Especially with no significant injuries on the offensive side. It just feels like they’ve been using a limited playbook and have been depending on effort and talent to win against lesser opponents since that loss in New England. I’m not worried yet, but I’m pretty concerned. I’m really hoping to see them open up against the Colts on Sunday. If that’s the case, and I’m REALLY hoping it is, just pray that this team has the ability to hit the switch on demand. Because they are really backpedalling into the post season.
mostly agree with this. i think the offensive line has regressed dramatically. yes, we know Schaub isn't mobile but the protection breaks down quickly. and Foster isn't running with any success at all save for the IND game. the defense has done enough lately to help the offense. they just don't look like the bulls on parade that we saw in the first half of the season.
It's not possible for the Texans to host Baltimore and play three games pre-Super Bowl. If the Texans blow the 1 seed and fall to the Wild Card round, they would host Cincinnati (again) and travel (most likely) to Foxboro, where the Pats are much harder to beat in January than even December. Even Denver would be tough to beat at Mile High again. But short of Denver losing this week, the Texans would play Cincinnati, New England and the winner of the other half of the bracket, which I'd imagine would be Denver though Baltimore is a threat since they do have postseason experience.
I think you are underestimating the impact the front 7 has on the secondary...Cushing makes a big difference in the run and pass defense.
I'd be afraid of the Pats and Broncos, but feel the Texans are heavy favorites against the other teams. The Pats are definitely the bigger team to avoid given what they already did to the Texans. If the defense doesn't regain its mojo, they won't make it past either.
take care of the number 1 seed and then they only have to go through one of them (assuming they also take care of their division round). i'll take my chances which i think are better against the Broncos than the Patriots. any given sunday.
Definitely New England and Denver. Texans must win this weekend. Than they will just have to face one of them at home and they got a shot
