    Yes. I noticed that.

Now he wants to separate himself from the gallery. Shameful.

If you feel Schaub is elite then stick to your guns. I haven't wavered on my opinion, not because I'm stubborn, but because Schaub hasn't shown/given me a reason to.

I've said the same thing since 2009.....

    He's good , not great.

Elite qb's make their team better, not depend on everything going perfectly to make the qb better.

What a disappointing game! Part of this is venting, but the other part is observations that I have made and generalizations based on those observations. I don't have hard and fast stats, nor do I have any specific games. It's just the overall feeling that I have gotten from watching this team since the Kubiak regimen.

    1. We have coaches that are deathly afraid to win!
It seems to me that this coaching staff minus Wade (can't pass judgement on him yet) is afraid of winning and when the game reaches a decisive point, Kubiak and company are afraid to make a decision to win games. Sure they have had some decisive points against weaker teams (Jax, Det) and have come out ahead but they don't really make a difference because we are inherently stronger than these teams and they are so bad that we can win without making the right decisions.

    2. Weak coaches lead to weak players due to a weak mental approach
There is no greatest reflection of the coach is than the quarterback. JVG talks about this when he was professing his love for Braman, and the topic came up about how Shaub deemed some "Texan worthy" and others not. JVG actually praised Shaub saying that he was glad Shaub stood up for himself, and then he goes onto talk about how superstars are built differently, they are cocky, arrogant when it comes to field and are type A personalities. I compare this attitude to that of fighter pilots or military aviators that I work with, these guys think that they are untouchable but it's part of the mental approach that is required for success in what they do, enables them to take calculated risks and conquer things that the general population cannot. This is built from a young age but part of it is instilled by the coach and this is the difference in our team. Our team is coached by Kubiak instead of a JVG style coach (Parcells, Cowher, Gruden) and thereby our quarterback takes on his personality and so it's hard to blame Shaub when it's difficult to assess how good he is when we go into the game with the weak mental approach of our head coach.

Players that I feel bad for: Foster, Johnson, Watt, Braman, Cushing come to mind as guys that are tough mentally and their approach is different that of our weak head coach.

I really hope I m wrong, because I don't want the above mentioned guys especially Johnson not to win a championship as I d much rather be wrong, but somewhere deep down I just feel we are in for a disappointing end to this year. I also know it wont happen but I wish Kubiak would be demoted to just coaching our offense and hire Cowher, Gruden or Parcells. This however will not happen because we have built up Kubiak's ego and it will be toohard of a pill to swallow to become OC or some other role.

Best of luck to my Texans and win or lose I support you but we need change!

And that's just a stupid bias anti-Schaub argument. You are denying you need quality on both sides to win.... what is our record? Do we not have quality on both sides? If you folks want to split hairs over "elite" and "great", but you are just being a hater.

Funny that you quote a person who I have ignored and funny because I've ignored him for the very same reasons Im thinking about ignoring you. I've stated my case numerous times and I'm sorry if you can't understand it.

I haven't wavered on my opinion of Schaub either. He's a top 10 ish QB (I'm willing to give some spots in the 10-12 range for argument sake). He isn't the kind of QB who can routinely put a team on his back, but on occasion he can. A team can win with him, but like previously mentioned, you are best served to not rely on him every time. He's a smart QB with physical limitations. He can make plays with accurate passing. He has a real hard time making plays when he isn't given a decent pocket and extending plays with his legs is clearly not going to end well. He has a firm grasp of the offense. He can read defenses fairly well but does tend to trust is accuracy too much at times and thus, force it into tight spaces and/ double coverage. He has shown toughness in taking big hits and he has shown grit in leading teams back from being down. Obviously, he's also dwindled in games when down early and thrown some bad ints late

I've said the same thing since 2009 as well. It's not my fault you can't differentiate my opinion with a handful of others. That's your lack of understanding, not mine. I've tried to be patient in the hopes that you show yourself as something more than a troll. I would like to hope that you are not a troll but you aren't giving a whole lot to go on otherwise.

What's odd is that Schaub seemed to have regressed. Remember earlier in the season when he was throwing darts with defenders ramming into him? Now, he pretty much goes fetal at first sign of pressure. And he rushes his progression even when there aren't any.

There used to be a stat where Schaub had a great QB rating under pressure. Now he looks like David Carr in the pocket. Honestly, I think if we had last year's Schaub, we probably win the Vikings game despite the horrendous blocking.

I predict he'll play well, but most won't consider it a big game unless it's against the Broncos or Pats.

Absolutely noticed this, Denver being the prime example. I actually thought he turned a corner bc he was playing well even under a lot of pressure. He's playing timid again and we stand no chance if hes going to revert to fetal position schaub.

    merry christmas guys

i'm not trying to be a jerk by criticizing schaub. some of you guys have been on message boards for over a decade. i would think we could be mature about our players and objective.

i have no ill will towards schaub. i used to be very defensive about criticism of steve francis. i never saw steve play college ball and fell in love with his game from his first preseason. i got very bored of dump it in and i was so happy to have a high flying guard. i apologize for those days.

its just a sport, schaub as a person probably deserves more respect than steve and i do respect him but it doesn't prevent me from being honest with myself about what i believe to see. if he turns it around great, if he has a game where it falls on him and he steps up on the way to superbowl victory, hell yes. i will happily eat crow. i'm just a guy on a message board, schaub is the guy getting millions to ball. but its nothing personal and i hate that guys i've been communicating with for ten years make it that way.

i tell people i will never love a football team in this town like the oilers. that's just me having my childhood team taken away. but i do love having another pro football team, it makes following the league a lot easier. thank you bob mcnair for putting a quality product on the field. forgive my pettiness over picking a name. you've done an awesome job.

    Interesting Comment.

I don't hate Schaub. Honestly I just have some concerns.
I have more worry about Kubiak.
I personally think Kubiak makes Schaub more timid than he should be
I think Schaub needs to be unleashed more

He will make some mistakes but will learn from them

For a lot of posters around here, it won't be considered a big game unless we're playing the '72 Dolphins in a Steel Cage Deathmatch on the Moon broadcast to every living entity in the universe. In the snow.

And for other posters every game against a team over .500 is a big game and proof positive that schaub has, indeed, been battle tested.

    Ignore me???

For 2 years you've insulted me and mocked me with disrespectful gifs. In the midst of your unfounded animosity towards, I've never said anything negative to you.

Those posters aren't the ones who continually move the goalposts in these arguments.

That's crossing the line. Schaub is a good guy with great character, let's not make it personal.
