"junk" is kind of harsh. But this is a trade for an All Star, and these guys have shown serious flaws and haven't proven they'd be even average starters in the NBA some day.

That trade is very similar to the Harden trade, except an additional prospect instead of Martin.

But OKC clearly had financial reasons behind the trade, even if they liked those pieces. And Harden wasn't their franchise player.
Why would Portland do a similar trade? They have a very cheap talented team, Aldridge is their main guy, but their problem is that they only have 4-5 good players in their rotation and none of them is a center. It's much smarter for them to wait till summer, use their cap space to add a real center (or maybe trade Hickson for a real center), and build a bench.

I also don't like this trade for OKC. I think Asik isn't worth what looks like a high lottery pick. I guess it's more likely than the Aldridge part, but I don't think it's very likely.

they are prospects, and blazers are ready to contend again in a year or two with LMA/lillard/batum as their core. If they get dmo and lamb, their ceiling can be extremly high in the future but how often do players reach their potential in nba? not many

2013 Mock Draft (BR 12/23) has us picking up another......

    "19. Houston Rockets: Tony Mitchell

    Position: Small forward/power forward

    Height/Weight: 6'8"

    School: North Texas

    Year: Sophomore

Greg Monroe's twin? Well, not exactly, but Mitchell could turn out to be just as talented.

Able to play either forward position with shooting abilities out to the three-point line, Mitchell has a variety of skills but was forced to sit out his freshman season for academic reasons.

So far this season, Mitchell is averaging 14.3 points, 8.7 rebound and 2.6 blocked shots a game for the Mean Green."

    tweener!

Nene would be a nice fit. He's lost a lot in the ups department but is still one of the most skilled bigs in the league scoring & a good distributor too. Put him at the 4 next to Asik at the 5. I bet the Wiz let him go cheap right now to get out of his contract, which is rediculous. I can see the P&R with him & Lin/Harden being Malone/Stockton-esque (stress on the -esque).

Haha. Blazers contending. That's funny. They're mediocre at best and really need to rebuild through the draft. Lamb and dmo may not reach their potential, but the point is to hope they can or end up being bad enough for wiggins or Parker in the 2014 draft.

i'm not sure what is funny :eek::eek: lamb and dmo isnt showing any flashes that they can become a star soon. so what does that mean? its a gamble. they have a better chance becoming a contending team developing lillard than getting aldrich and cook. if the management want to be "bad" they can just tank, they really dont need to trade LMA for junks.

Chang is not with a team? He was not drafted or a FA sign by a team? What is his weakness keeping him away?

They are a .500 team right now, which is remarkable considering they have a new coach, a rookie PG and an undersized starting center. I think they are a star C or SG away from being a contender.

Portland lucked out with Damian Lillard. He's a rookie averaging 18/6. They're further along in the rebuilding process than we are. They've got an all-star post scorer in LMA, an all-star PG in Lillard and a borderline star wing player in Batum.

JJ Hickson has proven to be a very good C for them as well. All they need now is to find some role-players, a sixth man and time for their core to grow together.

I agree with most of what you said, except the progress of our rebuilding process. We're at the very least even with them right now, its just a matter of who gets the additional star player first.

One things for sure though, the Blazers and the Rockets are the envy of the rest of the rebuilding teams in the NBA.

    It's not funny, it's realistic.

By the way, Rich Cho was fired for suggesting full rebuilding two years ago. But back then, they were in cap hell (Brandon Roy's contract) and they didn't have Lillard. Rebuilding made some sense. Still, they were strongly against it. Now, they have two foundational players, several young good starters and assets, and cap space. They'd be morons to blow it up. If they blow it up for a chance at Wiggins, then there are ~20 other teams in the NBA that should blow it up too, including the Rockets.

Maybe not this year, but later on what do ya'll think of trading for Luc Mbah a Moute? He's one of the best and most versatile defenders in the league, he can legit guard 1/2/3/4. Idk what Milwaukee thinks of him, but I think he could be a valuable player here. You can never have enough lock-down defenders.

    Imagine...

    Douglas

    Parsons

    Mbah a Moute

    Greg Smith

    Asik
