Personally I don't have much faith in Schaub after these horrible outings. If he does have a good game in the playoffs I'll be slightly shocked. He doesn't have to be elite, but if he plays better than Yates (which I'm pretty sure he will) we have a good chance to go far...that's all we can ask for from this team as it is right now.

Who knows...maybe schaub will have a great game. It's definitely possible. And if he does we can beat any team. Can we say the same about TJ? We've seen TJ play...he's never been great. Schaub has had elite games in the past, some against great teams. He's also had horrible games too. Meh, I guess we'll just have to see how he does...

if Schaub goes down, i will become the biggest TJ Yates fan because i want the team to succeed. i just think the Texans are much better with schaub running the show. maybe Yates is that guy in another 2 years. but now, it's Schaub or bust.

if yates is still making these same mistakes at 31 then you have a reason to bash him. until then, youre picking on the rookie qb who was outmatched by an elite defense in the playoffs.. youre faulting him for trying to make plays, he actually did audible at the line based on his reads of the defense. its unfortunate he wasnt prepared for what the ravens were able to do, by disguising coverages.

comparing the two guys' stats at this point in their careers is asinine. matt schaub is a 9 year vet with 6 years in this offense. using a rookies stats to boost up schaubs play is ridiculous. yates isnt going to know this playbook and the timing it takes to execute these plays like schaub does now..

when we watch yates play, we see an eager qb, looking to make a play. him holding on to the ball yesterday too long and getting hammered for it is a lesson you can only learn through failure. throwing picks because a defense baited you into making throws are mistakes rookies/first year starters make. young players learn through failure. i saw a young man who was never scared of the moment or the pressure.

the mistakes schaub makes arent teachable things. you cant practice not being a b****, you can either drop back and throw a dart in your receivers front pocket or you cant. you cant teach your qb to stand tall in the spot light.

I agree. It's obvious that Yates has a better arm and much better mobility than Schaub. But the dude makes so many bad passes at times it kills you. Maybe it'll improve with experience, I don't think it will, but who knows. It truly is Schaub or bust this year though...considering how bad we've been in the past and how great this season has gone with him at the helm, I'll take it.

the offense took a crumble when schaub went out, 11 points. If he doesn't lead the team to an 7-3 start, we would never have gotten to the playoffs. We lost the last 3 remember? "ohhh my godzzzz start garcia over YATes!" or has it been to long that we forgot how quickly fantasy dorks turned on yates?

Why do I believe schaub can get it done? unlike fantasy dorks that go from what they see in a week, you have to acknowledge that schaub is a consistent Qb from season to season, never dropping below an92 rating, with 98.5 being his highest.

If the o-line comes to play, he will be successful. He has been great in 11 of the games we played this year, making plays to score or set up foster for the 2 yard dive.

92-98 ratings are excellent, and if combined with a DEFENSE, the results will be great.
It seems that these out of world regular season numbers put up since 2010 by the "elite" has everybody spoiled. But let the playoff history speak for itself, Erin roygers went out in his first game and dru breeze is going to be jumping like aunts are going up his pants via his living room.

Hope that the o-line does what we know they're capable of and that the d will bring it like they have. Schaub will be fine.

his recent struggles notwithstanding, i want to see what he can do in the playoffs. if he musters up a game like he did against the Vikings in the playoffs i'll eat crow. i'm not a blind Schaub supporter. when he ****s up i acknowledge it. but i'm not naive enough to think the Texans are better with TJ yates at QB right now.

matt schaub isn't a better QB than drew brees. so why are the Saints not going to make the playoffs this year?

so some of you feel like tj yates had a crappy performance as a rookie in a playoff game on the road. Wow. analysis at its best. who knew i could be on the best rocket fansite and get this kind of insight into football play. st least tj yates will shuffle his feet and step up away from pressure, or get this actually scramble for positive yards! what a novel idea!!

my major gripes with schaub: he always has this mean mug on his face, as if he's some kind of tough guy and hes gonna lead the team through fire and brimstone, only to have his play reflect a scared, shellshocked player - keyword D.Carr. It really sickens me to see him hit the deck at the slightest pressure, im starting to think those nasty hits early in the year have done their damage. add to the equation an incompetent right side of the offensive line and its a recipe for disaster.

schaub likes to beat up on scrubs, but in the big games he rarely shows up. such a nasty taste in my mouth to see him ball up yesterday on a few sacks, no fight, no desire to fight through arm tackles. only not to be hurt. YUCK!

They lost their coach for the entire season, had a bounty distraction all year, and their defense has sucked? How's that?

but drew brees is elite. he should have overcome all of that. oh, i see it's important to have a defense too. i wonder what matt schaub can do with a defense. maybe win at least 12 games in a season, maybe no?

wanna know how long it took drew brees to win a playoff game? 5 years. how long did it take him to get back to the playoffs after that. another 2 years in which he teams went 7-9 and 8-8. was he elite after that 8-8 season? and then when he actually had a defense he leads the saints to 13 game win season and eventually the super Bowl. so it took him 9 years to achieve the ultimate goal. since then they've been one and done and wont' make the playoffs this year.

this is Schaub's 6th full season as a starter. barring some freak accident he'll taste the playoffs for the first time. i don't know how he'll perform. but let's not act like all these elite QBs just step into the league make the playoffs and take over. Aaron Rogers and tom brady are probably the only exception. those 2 stepped into the role like it was their destiny.

When in a win now mode, we will not play a young qb who just came off a game where he threw three interceptions and three other dropped interceptions.

This is just a stupid Schaub, homer argument. We all know you need quality talent on both sides to win. No one is denying that. Whenever Schaub has the opportunity to prove he's better than just good against great competition on the biggest stage all of his apologists show up to give us all the excuses why Schaub doesn't play well. It's a serious trend at this point. Schaub is probably the only QB in the history of football to suffer a season ending injury on a QB sneak. He's a bonafide crystal figurine. He's had an incredible amount of offensive talent in the last several years. We're all tired of the excuses.

Agreed. We live or die with Schaub
Esp this season . . maybe next

The question is: Is Yates his successor. This needs to be answered by the end of next season.

That said. Schaub has to have a good game in the playoffs.
He cannot be one and done with a bad or mediocre game

i dont' apologize for Schaub's poor play. i put the blame on Schaub for that viking's loss, along with the oline and foster.

and what is this talent you speak of? it's only been since 2011 that it has all come together with a great defense. he made the most of it at 7-3 until he broke the foot. what can you do? the team has 12 wins this year. if you're going to magnify his poor play in the 3 losses while discounting the wins because of lack of "quality" opponents, then you'll always have something to gripe out. all i know is we used to be a team that would lose to those bad teams. come playoff time they'll get the chance that truly counts to show who they really are.
