I think it is a combination of factors. I don't think the Kings have a very good culture & I think that is something all players need in order to be successful. Keith Smart is an idiot of a coach. Like I am being serious here, homie is stupid. Like if I had my car keys, was standing by the door & was putting on my jacket Keith wouldn't be able to put all three together to realize that I was leaving the building. Smart is learning basketball on the fly he is worse than Vinny Del Negro & that is saying something. I also don't think the Kings organization is very supportive as well. Like I said DC has ridiculous talent & I would love him on this team. I would give up anybody minus Parsons, Smith, Harden, Asik Lin for him. I think DC has a lot of maturation to do but I only think that will come in a supportive player friendly organization. Obviously this is all wishful thinking, I doubt we get him. Just some fun thoughts. Re: Kyle Lowry. He had attitude issues in Memphis. Houston & now in Toronto. I love Kyle but he needs to check himself.
we all can play the speculation game but I just realized we already have DeMarcus Cousins on this team his name is GREG SMITH who is avg 7.3 pts and 4.3 rebounds in 14.5 minutes. So if you give him Cousins minutes in Sac-town he prolly avg the same as Cousins. I'm sure Sacremento will ask for him in a trade as well cause of his cheap contract. nobody is more happy about the way the Rockets are plaaying so if we stay pat i'm happy with our team. He also showed up against the Fakers and just coming into his own and only 21
Exactly. And if we're gonna bring in someone, it better be a proven star. With the skyhigh potential and the fast paced, exciting and unselfish basketball this team is playing, I won't be surprised if guys like KLove and JSmoove would want to play in Houston.
Are people seriously comparing Smith to Cousins? Goodness. I love Smith, I am a huge fan of his hustle, screen setting & his skill as the roll man on the PNR but he is nowhere near Cousins level. At the same time though I think that there are five players that the Rockets should try to keep at all costs going forward Parsons Smith Lin Harden Asik. Smith has really carved a niche for himself on this roster but he isn't Cousins level.
If we put character issues aside and has to choose betweecousin and howard, i prefer wepursue cousins because he can play forward and co plemenr asik. Problem is, our players still have problem with disiplines. Harden doesn't put his hand up when defending, asik often experiment with his offence on the court. Add cousins and who knows what will happen
i did not compare the two...i said that sactown will ask for him on a trade...just because i threw out numbers doesn't mean i was comparing the two
Rox will have problem spacing the floor for Lin and Harden, when both Smith and Asik are on the court.
Smith probably will demand more playing time after his contract end, and I don't think Asik and him can play together effectively. So, at the end, the rox have to pick either one of them, unless Smith starting to up some mid range jumper.
Edited. With the current roster, the rox are still far from being a serious contender. At least, I can't foresee Harden beating up James nor KD in the near future. So, I do see this trade as an opportunity for the rox. Rox may even participate as a facilitator as long as they can take some advantages from the deal.
Sam Amick of USA Today (and former beat reporter for the Sacramento Bee) discussing the Cousins situation: http://www.news10.net/video/default...&odyssey=mod|newswell|text|FRONTPAGE|featured Says that Cousins is not "untouchable" but does not expect a deal soon this season due to his trade value being very low in the short term. Intersting he compares the Cousins situation with the Kings past dealings with Ron Artest and Kevin Martin. And we know where SAC ended up sending these two, don't we? Perhaps a draft night deal is what we can expect.
So on top of everything else, Cousins has no problem throwing the coach who supported him and the agent who supported him under the bus. It's also interesting that he occasionally speaks of Cousins in the past tense, as though he will never take the court again as a King. Kings management may also be learning an important lesson about just what the rest of the league thinks Cousins is worth, as they field one garbage offer after another.
Chris Mannix just reported via twitter that Hou is no longer interested in Cousins. Said deal is very unlikely. I'm guessing the early success of this core has the front office way cautious on making major changes now. Never in a million years would I think Morey would get to the point to where he would pass on a talent like Cousins. I guess that's a positive thing though. They must really think this core is going to be special In a few years. Either that or they have their eyes set on someone else they think could be available sooner rather than later. I do have to admit that I would actually feel more comfortable with a l Aldridge or K Love acquisition even though Cousins upside is well... Potentially as the best low post scorer in the NBA. I just can't believe we have got to the point to where Morey would actually pass on Cousins. I guess that's a good thing that the Rockets have got to the point to where it's even a question.
It's like Christmas just came a little early for you guys! That or the Rockets were one of many teams to submit a lowball, risk-free offer for Cousins, and the Kings realize they are basically stuck with this guy until his offer year. There might be some of this going on as well. Morey is the type to try for home runs and only settle on a triple.
Seriously I can't tell you how happy I am that Boogie Cousins will not be a Houston Rocket. Pop bottles. (image removed by Admin because Google finds it to be a malware site)
