The answer to what? Our PG play is starting to look ok with Lin coming around and Harden and Douglas are rotating through there.Machadfo will be waived and replaced by this dude.
I simply don't believe Morey will admit Machado to being a mistake so soon. He should be highly aware that if he waived Machado and Machado blew up somewhere else Jeremy Lin style, Morey would really look like the biggest idiot in the world, and again.
Oh ok. Personally Machado besides a few summer league games hasnt impressed me.I wouldnt be against waiving the "Answer" for this guy.
What mistake? You made it sounded like there is a Jeremy Lin every year that waits for a stupid GM to waive. LOL.
While I don't watch D-league games or pretend to know anything about developing players, a common trend seems to be that even the 13th man on the Rockets bench simply dominates the D-League. Whether its Joey Dorsey, Mike Harris, Will Conroy, Terrence Williams or whomever. If Machado is not dominating down there, he probably isn't a worthwhile prospect and is most likely being cycled out. Seems the Rockets like to have 3rd string guys ready to go at any given position just in case something happens.
It could also be his last curtain call as a Rocket. Sometime players also get extended minutes to showcase them before a trade. Machado could be it since his deal is not fully guaranteed. I wonder what's Royce White been up to though.
possible outcomes of this beverley signing. 70% machado cut. makes most sense because his contract is about to be guaranteed if we don't cut him and his skillset is not what we need on the bench. this team is playing fast-paced, open basketball and mchale is trying to emphasize defense (we haven't got that part down yet). ergo we need an athletic pg who can run fast all night and we need a shooter to space the floor. machado might make it in the league eventually but realistically we will be paying him to play in the d league the rest of the year when we can use the same money to pay a guy who might help us a little. 20% toney douglas traded. listen td is not going to shoot 44% from 3 the rest of the season. we won't get anything for him when his contract ends at the end of the year and he looks awfully good on paper right now. sell high buy low. get a 2nd round pick or something for td and pick up this cheaper replacement from euroball (or whatever the league is called). despite how "good" toney is playing right now he's really not doing anything that special that we can't find someone else to do. 10% cut cook. he's not doing too much. but I think this is much less likely because he has a much fatter contract than machado and it's guaranteed.
Something to consider though is that Lin got cut before the season, with a shortened pre-season and training camp. He also had the perfect storm for him to breakthrough in NY and at least showed signs in the D-League that he could probably contribute at the NBA level, if given the chance. At this point, the Rockets now have had more time to evaluate Scott if they do indeed choose to waive him. I would expect a team like Dallas would go after Scott, but put him on their D-League team as well. They seem to like trying to developing undrafted guards (Barea/Lin) but he has yet to show he can score like those two.
Maybe, based on the past few games, Morey and Mchale beleive going small is the best way for this team to succed. This could be the start a trend of playing more small lineups. Beverley might just fit that role more so than Machado. Allowing the likes of Harden and Parsons to play more 3 & 4 respectivley. The playmaking role is becoming redundant. Harden, Lin, Parsons and of late Delfino fill that void fine. So a project like Machado isn't really needed at this time. Especially if Morey finds a big that can pass the ball from the high post via trade (Cousins). Side note: Machado has a severe case of alligator limbs.
2012-2013 Beverley played (and started) in six games for Spartak, averaging 30 minutes, 12.2 points, 53.3% 2FG, and 50% 3FG. And (strangely) 60% in FT. 4 rebds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.5 blocks, and 1.5 TOs. Last year, he was Eurocup MVP. (Eurocup being a lower caliber league than Euroleague, but better than D League, according to people on this board who know better than me). http://www.eurocupbasketball.com/eurocup/news/i/96016/3735 (MVP article) http://www.eurocupbasketball.com/eurocup/competition/players/showplayer?pcode=001927 (stats)
Scott Machado twitters from last night. -- The bible never once says "figure it out" but over and over it says "trust god" he's already got it all figured out!! -- Invest in what you have, play with the cards your dealt and always believe!!!
Yeah i think the same thing. Do we really an upgraded 3rd string PG??? If we were gonna cut Machado then why recall him from RGV? I think TD has played his way into an asset.
