McGrady's problem is that most fans will always find it easier to blame all the Rockets problems on him (or Yao) for the period while he was here. Even in playoff games when he was the leading scorer or almost getting triple doubles, it was McGrady that didn't show up and not the rest of the team.

Rationally, one should let it go but some fans are not rational and just hearing his name causes them to hate even when it does nothing or means nothing at this point in time. The proper emotion/feeling between McGrady and Rockets fans at this point should be apathy, it is a loud faction of Rockets fans that are keeping things bitter.

Is he less of a scumbag now? What's that? He elbowed a 23-year old who he stared down just a few moments ago?

That said, I felt bad for the guy when he was absolutely heckled after coming back here last time for a game. The guy was on the verge of tears.

Yep, that pretty much nails it.

Bitterness? I think it's more indifference at this point. The team won nothing while he was here and he's been gone for a while now. The fact the he gets brought up here on a regular basis is either funny or sad, take your pick.

Despite that last year or so, Tracy played with passion as a Rocket & I appreciate that. I'm glad he came to Houston & I'm disappointed about due to how things ended but that's life. Some people really need to stop holding grudges.

13 in 33 and 22 games in a row won't be done again in our lifetime. I'm glad Tmac let us be part of that. No hard feelings, he's in China now

The worst for me was when he announced his microfracture surgery without informing the Rockets when trade rumours began surfacing. I believe whoever he was traded for would have been huge for us to go deeper in the playoffs.

He has a super large fan base in China because he was Yao's all star teammate. Although his team is 0-12 into the season, he still turned plenty of road games into home court thanks to his fans. He got booed once when he threw an elbow when playing Marbury's team.

With all this amazing hindsight we have, would you still have pulled the trigger on trading Stevie Franchise and Cuttino Mobley for TMac? I mean considering with either, we realized that we couldn't get past the first round, so does it still make sense?

people forget that Yao was injury prone too.
I would have replaced Dawson with Morey in 2002 and see what happened from there.

People who are bitter towards Mcgrady are just ignorant fools, plain and simple. Mcgrady played his heart out for this city although he was surrounded with garbage players. Stromile swift? Clarence weatherspoon? Juwan Howard? Jim Jackson? Ryan Bowen? David Wesley? Are you ****ing kidding me? All T-Mac had was Yao. And the sad fact is that they were hardly ever healthy together.

Was Mcgrady ever able to lead us to the championship? No. Is this entirely his fault? No.

Why are people so soon to forget that Mcgrady was pretty much on Kobe's level for many years? I remember in 07 when Kobe was unhappy in L.A., there were rumors of a trade of Kobe straight up for T-Mac. Need I say more?

I'm not gonna go into the stats he constantly put up in the playoffs because anyone can easily look them up. But the truth is, even to this day, he is tops all time in playoff scoring. That's not a coincidence folks. Yeah there are gonna be the ignorant jackasses who say "omgz Tracy Mclady never got out of the first round, what a loser lulz!" But those ones who say that obviously don't understand basketball so no point in getting too upset.

The truth is, Mcgrady was a special talent that comes around once every blue moon and he got to spend some of his prime here in Houston playing at his best. Damn was he fun to watch.

Personally I have no vendetta towards Mcgrady, but for those who do I wish I could say I understand but I can't.

Until then, haters hate right on.

Thats been his main issue. He always tries to appear "above it" and like things are "water under the bridge".

He doesnt HAVE to acknowledge things while he's still a competitor in a playing career, but it comes off a bit disingenuous.

Rather than just being candidly OPINIONATED, If McGrady showed an open humility and gave sincere appreciation to the fans in a way he could smile about, and LET himself be seen like that, he'd get some respect back in a hard luck at-least-he-tried, "lovable loser" sense. Like what Steve Francis is doing. I don't see that happening though until he gets well into old age if at all

Right. McGrady is giving out apathy and indifference. And we return that sentiment the same way.

Don't have to hate the guy no matter the public pressure to do so. But if McGrady doesnt want the appreciation enough, I don't have to work to give it to him.

Imagine your boy Kobe playing his Shaq years with Smush Parker and Kwame Brown and not being the rich boy in LA...
how many playoff rounds would he win?
Use logic man. As fragile as Tmac was, you never hear many bad words about Penny Hardaway whose body failed him too.

It's all fate and the rich boy wins every time because he is the rich boy.

Francis and Mobley loved playing hard. Tmac didn't. You get paid for the privilege of entertaining your city with the quality of your play. It's his attitude that it was not a privilege that makes it too hard to forgive. Tmac played for Tmac, therefore he never made it out of the first round.

Zan Tabak deserves more respect, Kelvin Cato deserves more respect, Scotty Brooks deserves more respect for what they did for Houston. Tmac made Houston a laughing stock.
