Paul Thurrott did a piece on this guy's review. This guy is garbage. The guy has the audacity to call out Windows 8 on it's appearances when his web site looks like it's from 1998. Comical. Windows 8 is just one of those OS's you have to use. Also, to liken Windows 8 to vista is idiotic. You know all those features that people know and love about Windows 7? Close to 85% of them were on Vista. The problem with Vista was not the OS, it was the fact that the OS did not fit the hardware specs of the time. People love to claim it was because Microsoft left all that worked well in XP, but in truth it was because most people had outdated or cheap hardware and shouldn't have been running Vista in the first place. Windows 8 if anything is more efficient than 7. Going between my surface and my desktop is painful just because I can do things 5x faster on my surface than my desktop. There will always be detractors, but in truth, if you can actually pick up a surface and say this OS is not intuitive, that this OS isn't easy to use, then you have a warped mind to begin with. Maybe Linux is just better for you. Like the Windows Phone commercials say, Microsoft didn't design this stuff for everyone, they did it for the individual. My surface and my windows phone are most definitely mine, and if you pick them up you can easily see that.
After about a month with this OS, I have to say that I freakin love it. Pairing it with office 2013, everything is just beautiful and fast. I only have minor grips and they include the fact that the share on the charms menu should be more functional than it is. If I could, with one swipe, share a document with any place I wanted to, it would be an extremely useful feature. Windows 8 is much faster than windows 7 and it isn't even close. This is the first time I've really noticed a big difference in speed upgrading operating systems. Microsoft really is learning how to integrate office into windows and syncing everything. Fantastic OS.
I like it but can't get it to accept any wireless USB adapter drivers Anyone have a solution for this? Feel like I've tried everything
Can you be more specific? Desktop, laptop, tablet? What kind of wireless adapter is it (make/model)? The Windows 7 drivers for any device should work just fine in Windows 8.
Desktop I've tried Tp link Belkin On networks Asus Tried do through windows 7 drivers to no avail Tried doing it through online from the disc, even files customer service gave me and non work. I bought a wireless Logitech keyboard with mousepad, plugged it in and it worked immediately....same for the wired 360 controller. These wireless drivers however for the adapters aren't working at all.
I have a d-link wireless adapter and it works great. Of course, mine is a card that is attached to the motherboard. I haven't tried any others. What I will say is that since netgear is probably the most commercial version of what you are trying to do, I'd get one of those. I'm sure it would work.
Of course none of them are motherboard cards so that's a whole different story. The link you gave me was the reason I even bought the belkin and it didn't work Its the pro version of windows 8 by the way. For whatever reason this system won't fully install any of them

I don't get people that bag on windows 8 and call it unusable. Maybe your just a freakin idiot, buddy. Windows 8 is the best windows operating system that I've ever used. fact: file explorer is greater and more useful in windows 8 than it ever has been in any other operating system. fact: windows 8 is faster than any other version of windows, bar none. fact: windows 8 is more secure and better connected to its apps than any other windows operating system. fact: live tiles and apps such as the news app, people app, music app, everything is better than with other windows that don't over these things. Here's a hint: if you want to use windows 8, before you rant, learn the gestures, get a touchpad, and then evaluate the os. I FREAKIN LOVE WINDOWS 8, it is the best product microsoft has made in decades.
You know that feeling you get when you read a post and take it seriously and then you look at the username and feel stupid. Yea...
I actually found something that doesn't require drivers that gives me wireless internet and is plug and play. Needless to say it is a pretty smooth operating system once you get the hang of it. Adding the start 8 interface on it did wonders.
feeling stupid that you were roped in by a good post by a poster that you feel is beyond such feats? yeah, I do know the feeling. I just read your post, but since I saw beat la, I knew i could disregard it as trollism.
I am just about to run out of my 60 day trial of office 2013, anybody know the cheapest way to upgrade?
Not unless you know someone in the tech world..they usually always have copies of stuff with registration keys
Only way to get it cheaply is as as student. If you want to spend 12 bucks go register a business name at the county clerk's office and open a BizSpark account, which is basically free MSDN for small businesses. You just need a legit business name (sole proprietor is fine), you don't actually have to plan on doing anything. Once you're in, you're in. I believe you get two licenses keys for the vast majority of their products. http://www.microsoft.com/bizspark/
