But it's not about this season, it's about creating the best young team going forward, and DeMarcus Cousins gives us the best "chance" at doing just that.

I also believe we have the right situation for him to grow, here we have an efficient bonafied star in James Harden, so Cousins doesn't have to be the #1 option but can still get his touches, that's something Cousins never had in Sacramento. We also have great big man coaches in Kevin McHale and Carroll Dawson, another vital part to help his development that was missing in Sacramento.

However if worst comes to play, at best we lose a couple of role players in a valiant effort to make this team great.

Who cares what other, dumber teams offer him? Rudy Gay, Roy Hibbert, and Rashard Lewis got max contracts. Do you want them too?
You don't see the red flags? Cousins isn't Duncan or Garnett, either in talent or in character. He's a gamble. Not everyone wants to take that chance, let alone pay a high price for it.

i highly doubt the kings will let him go for cheap, so i agree, should not trade for him right now.

I've followed this guy for a while, and IMO Cousins just wants his touches in the paint. He's played the number two option in college before, and played it well.

Put a lowball offer in, see what happens. It's the way of the Morey.

I agree... I love Cuz and his skill set but he needs a Jerry Sloan like coach... Or someone like Pop who won't take his crap. Apparently having good role models as his teammates doesn't help.

That being said, if he is on a winning team that solves a lot of problems. He hates to lose (which is not a bad thing) but he handles it very poorly when things aren't going his way.

There is a very high reward if it works out with him... Though it may be too high risk depending on what the kings ask for. My ideal situation... Cousins and Chuck are the kings coming to Houston and we keep most (at least 3 of 5) of our starters.

Oh damn, I didn't realize Isiah Thomas had been re-hired by some team as their GM.

But your right some GM would give him the max

No to Cousins. Bad attitude is not acceptable, no matter who it is.

we are not in desperate need of a red flag player. i mean, if we didnt have harden, i wouldnt mind buying cousins high and gamble.

So...if we didnt have a piece in place you would mortgage the house for a trouble maker who may become a superstar...instead of buying the same guy for pennies on the dollar who can flourish with your current superstar?

    makes ZERO sense.

If he doesn't cost you much, then you should always trade for him. If worse comes to worst, you can always flip him. There's bound to be GMs out there that will want him because of his potential.

Having a bad attitude player on a team is more dangerous than most people think. Team chemistry trumps individual talent everytime. Just look at the Raptors without Bargnani, they're on a 5 game winning streak. And now the Kings without DeMarcus, they blown out a Blazers team that was on a 5 game win streak.

I can't believe people don't want this guy. He has good moves under the basket, a solid jumpshot, and can rebound the hell out of the basketball. Attitude can be fixed. If he's thrown into a winning locker room I seriously doubt he will pout like a baby. He has played on a horrendous team for years and they show 0 signs of getting better. If he joins a young team like the Rockets with a star in the backcourt, you'd be surprised how much different he would act.

Let's not forget. He's TWENTY TWO

    So, my question is this:

How close is Cousins to Beasley territory in terms of career trajectory/value by now?

beasley is a bum, cousins is a locker room mess. cousins is a bigger headcase. but every team needs a skilled big man more than a skinny power forward, so i think cousins still has higher value.
