Our best offer Cousins/salmons = 11m For Patterson / cook /pick =5m We can take on more salary and save king money
He still has value, and there are plenty of teams out there with nothing to lose. Getting him should be an alternative to just tanking. Maybe Washington to reunite him with Wall. We shouldn't be that desperate anymore. We've already well on our way to turning things around. Currently in a playoff spot with the youngest roster, and tons of cap space to be players in free agency. If we were to this point without the Harden trade, I would be more receptive to the idea. We have too much going for us now to gamble it on Cousins being the opposite of what he has been to date.
My thoughts exactly. Rockets have a good future without Cousins. To take him would be jeopardizing that future. If we didn't get Harden, then I'm all for trading for Cousins. I'd rather look for another "safer" superstar (or potential) than take another headcase.
I'm pretty sure Motiejunas and Jones will have to be in the trade.... T Jones, Motiejunas, Aldrich & 2nd Round pick for Cousins and Tyler Honeycutt will work and Kings will take it IMO
This is not a no brainer in either direction by any means. It is all a matter of risk and reward. The reward for Cousins is great if the Rockets can get him without giving up any of their rotation players. If they could pull off a deal with a pick, their rookies, and taking on Salmons, it might be worth it to see if Cousins could turn it around on the Rockets. If he pulls it together and flourishes at PF in a team-focused, fast paced offense, it could vault the Rockets into contender status. But there is also an argument that can be made for staying the course and letting the current team develop.
Morey will not take Salmons in any trade scenario....he makes 7 million next year Cousins and Tyler Honeycutt for Jones, Motiejunas, Aldrich and 2nd round pick http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=cew8o54
Odd they they would even mention Monroe as a possibility because there is no way that the Pistons would even consider that.
So, do psychologists do volume discount if we set up both Demarcus and Royce with frequent appointments?
I personally would not interrupt the development of a young and high potential team with the addition of Cousins. The Rockets do not need a poor shooting power forward clogging the paint. Cuts down the driving lanes our offense depends on. Having all the pieces fit together is much more important than having badly matched talent. Give me a defensive power forward who can drive and hit 37% of his 3 point shots. And get some rebounds too.
Good find. I can't see why ya'll would won't this guy on your team. Chemistry is terrible thing not to have.
Turn what around? The guy is 22, huge, skilled, and already put up great numbers in the NBA. And you don't want to give up any 'rotation' players on a mediocre team? SMH. If this guy was a free agent you would have teams ready to give him the max.
not that i dont like cousins, he wouldve been nice if we got him 20 games sooner. right now, we have the momentum and I think we will be a better team this season without him.
He is having a mediocre season on a terrible team, has regressed from his first two seasons, is horribly inefficient, shows bad shot selection, and regularly gets into fights with coaches, teammates, and opposing players. He has a lot to turn around.
The Maloofs have sold off business assets because of the GFC which was a time of high suicide rates for casinos owner and they also were burnt by Bernie Madoff. As for the team the Kings have had trouble finding major sponsors. Turning a starter into a foundational player? Daryl Morey has the power, the right asset to do it. Lin and the marketing his brings would be the Kings' wet dream.
