People are just jealous that Fisher is a strong, intelligent and financially successful man of African descent.

oh bull****, if he wanted good doctors he'll go to phoenix. The man is a damn liar. I hate him. Do we not forget what he did to Scola? This is all an act to put him back on with Kobe so they can retire together next year,

As much as I hate Derek Fisher, that still doesn't give the excuse for that type of comment. His daughter had to deal with a terrible illness and no matter how much we all hate Derek Fisher, he is still father and that is something you don't joke about.

You really think Derek Fisher signed with Dallas thinking he would get huge minutes?

BTW....Phoenix is known for having some of the best eye-oriented doctors in the U.S. Additionally, our cancer care is awesome. Believe me, I know first hand. :)

Anyway, I don't think Fisher quit on the Mavs because of minutes. He played with the Thunder in a similar role.

The fact that he made an agreement with the Billionaire Boy before signing tells me that he anticipated this.

I hate the guy as a player, but I have to give him the pass on this one, even if his past history shows some questionable timing. (Utah)

I guess I'm more understanding about this type of stuff after the CT shooting. Kids/Family is/are everything.

I think it is despicable that whenever he wants out of a contract, he uses his daughter's health as a pretense.

In the NBA, no matter what team you play for, you are on the road about 50 % of the time. The NBA season is only from about October until about April/May for most teams. His daughter is in the care of good doctors anyway.

It is simply ridiculous for him to sign somewhere for the money and then when things don't go his way, to just use his daughter's health as an excuse.

    Scumbag!

This, 100%. He also said he won't play for some time now and needs to be with his family, don't think this is about his team situation.

thinking he would get huge minutes/decent minutes and that the mavs would be good, yes.

he is one sick puppy if he signs with the lakers. why doesn't he prove that his family is more important to him than basketball and retire?

Yeah, Fisher told the Larry Miller his family needed a doctor from NY. After hearing his sob story he released Fisher from his contract but also paid him the guaranteed money which he no longer owed out of the goodness of his heart. When Fisher signed with the Lakers, Miller was reportedly unhappy about it.
