you should watch "Silver Linings Playbook" he and Jennifer Lawrence put on fantastic roles as leads with anxiety issues due to personal issues. Changed my view of Cooper as an actor.

*Chris Tucker sighting* (don't watch it for him, had a VERY small role in the film)

This looks great, glad to see Ryan Gosling picking his movies to star in wisely.

So.. Has anyone seen it yet?

I watched it tonight. Thought it was okay, even though...

..I was disappointed they killed Ryan off so fast, and they didn't have more interaction between him and Bradley Cooper. From the trailer, I thought this was going to be more of a Gosling vs. Cooper movie. Didn't end up at all like that.
Also disappointed about Goslings relationship with Eva, thought they could of have dug more into it, though I understand this better suits "real life situations".

Still, very much liked the way some shots where took by the director, the music and some parallels between fathers and sons.

Nice flick, will need to see several more times to appreciate fully.

Why do people think this guy is a great actor? He has one facial expression: bland.

Gosling? I agree, I'm beginning to feel the same way about Jennifer Lawrence but I think Bradley Cooper has shown himself to be fairly versatile.

Gosling's problem is two fold, he is trying way to hard to be Brando and like all child actors he's relying on techniques he learned as a kid. DiCaprio has the same problem. Lawrenece might suffer from this as her career progresses.

To his credit he is at least taking on challenging roles. He could have easily gone the Ryan Reynolds/Ben Affleck route and just stared cashing checks after The Notebook.

Funny you mention Cooper. He is a Georgetown graduate and got his MFA from the Actors Studio. That place is like the MIT of acting schools in America. De Niro, Keitel, Pacino, Baldwin, Brando, Hackman, Beatty etc... So his versatility can be attributed to a wider range to tools in his acting kit.

Saw it tonight. Solid crime drama. More drama than crime actually. The plot and structure are really meh. This is more a character piece resulting in great performances. Specifically Bradley Cooper.
