I really don't want this to happen. Now he's fired his agent and hired another one. The problem with this move is that Asik and Parsons are high character guys with a good work ethic. If we are to get Cousins it will likely cost us either or both of them.
Cousins is a legit head case, not diagnosed medically like Royce White or alleged like the player formerly known as Ron Artest, he just has legit behavior problems that have costs people their jobs and possibly disabled a franchise for who knows how long even with a guy like Chuck Hayes in the locker room for leadership. Morey would have to be a idiot to try to trade for such a loose canon just as the ship is finally looking to be going in the right direction.
wow really bad take...cousins would make 4 million next year so how will he mess up our cap room.. Delfino, Cook, Aldrich, Douglas are basicaly expiring contracts..why do you want Howard when you have Mr. Every Night at the 5 already. Love and Aldridge are foundational pieces..if you take away those expiring and add cousins the team salary next year is 37,000,000 + which will give us 21,000,000 in cap room still to sign a backup point guard and backup 2/3 player..do not get your logic carl
Asik for Cousin in some form or fashion would probably be what Sac would want, but Morey would surely try to do what he could to keep Asik. Possibly offering Patterson, D-Mo, and others. People saying Asik is not going anywhere, must not realize you have to trade talent for top talent even if they are a head case.
Why is there a thread for this? You must be new here. Ever since Yao has retired, this board would go ape every time a more than decent center was said/rumored to be available. I don't even know why you are surprised.
you do realize the kings would have to pay Asik 15 million in the third year...the highest player on team salary wise is john salmons do you know what you are talking about??
I was always under the assumption that the cap hit for these deals was 8 million over 3 years and only the Knicks would have taken the 15million dollar hit in the 3rd year.
its a contract so any team in the nba will be obligated to pay the terms of the contract and mr every night came from the bulls not knicks
Ok...say we do get him...but who are we gonna trade him for? I just can't see any good trade package in our team.
Yea see that is what I thought. And the Knick's thing was just a typo because i was thinking about both poison pill contracts. 15 million would have only been the penalty for the team matching the offer.
It's not just about Cousins' salary, it's about the salaries that the Kings are likely trying to dump if they are to trade Cousins (John Salmons is the first priority). It's also about the young talent/assets that the Kings are likely to demand (Jones, Motiejunas, Parsons, Lin, Asik, etc.). If you trade these guys for Cousins and Cousins become a bust, you may get stuck with bad contracts and deplete your assets for nothing. This is why I am saying that the Rockets should look into dealing for Cousins, but ONLY at the right price-- meaning not taking back too much in terms of bad contracts and not giving up too much assets. He is a gamble, not the sure thing.
