Gun control will not solve much.

This is a mental health problem that starts with the parents of these "disturbed" teens. I read that the shooter played video games for over 6 hours a day in his basement. That kid was damaging himself mentally with his social isolation, and not connecting with society.

Also, their are 300 million guns in the USA. Will the illegal ones get confiscated?

The root of these tragedies is mental instability, caused by behaviors and lifestyles of these villains that, without realizing it, are damaging themselves.

Geez. Apparently guns are the most super-complicated thing in the universe and crafting an effective piece of legislation requires a team of supergeniuses and Deep Blue, and even that is DOOMED . . So you better not even try

Does make you wonder why if theyre o complex that they're predominantly in the hands of slackjawed yokels though.

Why do we need cars that can drive over the speed limit? Why do we trucks and SUVs bigger than countless cars? Why do we need pocket knives, or Tazers or crossbows or countless other weapons? It's called freedom. We have a right to said things as long as WE don't endanger others.

More than 99.99% of all gun owners never harm a soul, and that is a mathematical fact.

You completely missed the point, as banning "assault rifles" does nothing... because they are the EXACT SAME as "hunting" and "sport" rifles. The lawmakers passing laws on them and media reporting on them are completely clueless, and they add to the fear with misinformation.

Kids isolated will be isolated. Some of us are shy and it's actually really hard to talk to people, not every one is extroverted. Clique-ness of highschool really doesn't help either. But if you're not one of the wallflower, you don't really know how it feels or what that type of a person goes through.

It took joining some school activities and having some really good people becoming my friends for me to become more social. I actually had to force my self to talk to people at parties/social situations before it becomes second nature. But that process is VERY HARD.

If anything video games actually allows those people to have social interaction and talk to people (whether it's a guild/clan on WOW or FPS games). I've also had friends who weren't that social, played games 6 hours a day, but are still not crazy.

I blame the media that promotes the idea of what is or is not inferior more than anything else. If you don't feel inferior everyday, it helps a lot with self confidence and self esteem. Some can get it by becoming successful professionals (extremely good), others chose to do it by going nuts with a gun (extremely bad). The root cause is mental instability, but it's not caused by lifestyles of the villans themselves but our society in general

Your freedom = bullet riddled first graders.

Time to reevaluate if your joy kick is worth it....

....Jury is in. It's not. You'll understand someday.

Video games are not the problem, if anything, that actually allows you to potentially have something in common with a ton of other people. I went to PAX East this year (see image if you don't know what it is) and met up with a friend from another city that stayed in touch because of our appreciation of video games. At the same time, I was able to hangout and have dinner with random strangers because we were just walking the same direction, strike up a conversation about what we liked and etc. and became buddies. To insinuate that video game is the problem is stupid.

David Brooks of New York Times said on meet the press last Sunday studies has shown there is very little evidence showing kids became from non violent to violent after playing violent games.

"Yeah, whatever?" How about giving that "racist" quote, chump. Calling someone racist is a serious matter around here. At least it is in my opinion. So give me the quote. If it is racist, I'll call ROX out on it. If it's not, then you're full of hot air, to put it mildly.

Go look for it yourself, don't be lazy and stupid. Or do you want to continue to make an ass of yourself?

Roxran used Asian stereotypes to describe how he envisioned Yallmean.

There is even less evidence that shows kids will grow up and go on mass shooting sprees.

Its media sensationalism. If you don't think so, then find the percentage of schools nationwide that have had random mass shootings and come up with a death count. Next, find the percentage of schools who have issues of violence with guns and come up with a death count.

We no doubt need better gun control. But ranting "ban assault rifles" or "ban all guns" is an ignorant approach. There are too many guns on the street to make a difference, and now they are flying off the shelf faster than ever.

Deck, look, I think you are older than most of us, and have grown up kids. With age, there should come the wisdom. But ... You have come cross, at least to me, as someone that like to throw self proclaimed righteous stuff around here, possibly because of yor age. We have run-ins in some other threads in the past, but I refrain from confronting you because of your age. But I have to say this you are a confirmed hypocrite based on my observation. You often go overboard calling people all sorts of things with no respect like calling me and granville "chumps" and yet somehow you think you are justified in doing that while calling others rude.

I don't buy for a second that you didn't figure out the low life asian mockery stuff. I mean how hard is it to detect "Hans, step to your reft ... Go take a shower"? You knew what it was, and yet you would like to defend him. Fine. I was not going to repeat that stuff for the fun of you. You think I can't see through that low life trick of yours? You are a confirmed azz in my book now.

My statement of the problem for the sandy hook elementary tragedy: assault weapon was controlled by a mentally troubled kid at a wrong time.
A sound solution IMO: ban assault weapon like the one used by Adam Lanza. That would immediately prevent or reduce a likelihood of another sandy hook elementary.

That doesn't mean all other avenues in making schools safer for our kids should be foreclosed.

In the long run, I do advocate for a total gun ban. I believe that would make our society better than an armed one. In reaching that total gun ban, it's possible and maybe probable more social harm will be brought about, but that, I think, would be a necessary cost for erasing past mistakes made by less restricted gun controls.
