We would be the 7th seed playing against a terrific clippers team....

I am not going to ask if you believe we would be a good matchup against them in the playoffs b-cuz odds are we would get our asses beat....

My real question is as currently constructed, who do you believe we
would actually be good matchup for.... spurs, golden state ( if they hold up), denver, minnesota (if they hold up), okc, etc......

Just your thoughts if we were to make the playoffs.....

Maybe I'm over-optimistic, but I think right now, this Rockets team would have a good shot of beating any team in the west in a playoff series outside of San Antonio, LA Lakers, & OKC. The Clippers don't impress me much, despite their record.

I wish Rockets played in the East. They would play the Knicks.:)

I think a key question is who can shut down Harden? OKC knows his game well, MEM got Tony Allen, and DEN got Iggy, so I'd stay as far away from those teams as possible.

Another weakness of ours is defending against good shooting bigs, ie. POR's Aldridge, MIN's Love, MEM's Gasol, OKC's Ibaka, and SAS' Duncan.

Lastly, teams with two quick PG's will haunt us, so that's LAC.

In conclusion, maybe we should skip the playoffs? :p JK, I like our chances against GSW, LAL, and to a less degree SAS, DEN, LAC, MIN, and will be woeful against OKC, and MEM.

Way too optimistic. But, you are entitled to you opinion. I'll be shocked if the Rockets make the playoffs.

Still too early to tell IMO. We've yet to play against the Clippers, Golden State, Wolves (esp. now that Love and Rubio are both back), Lakers with Nash, or Dallas with Dirk. Besides, our young players are still quite inconsistent.

Having said that I hope we do make the playoffs, even if we get swept in the first round. Playoffs experience is hard to come by and it'd be great if our young players get a taste even if they can't go far this year.

We would be swept for sure. This team still needs about 4 more months to gel.

    What an utterly stupid post.

    This is 2012-2013. Not 2008-2009.

The Lakers are a horrible team, 11th in the West, and were whipped by the Rockets in their last meeting.

The Clippers are a far superior team, 2nd in the West, just one game behind OKC.

The Clippers are a championship contender. The Lakers are not.

If the playoffs started today the Rockets would get their rear ends handed to them. In four months who knows? Let's wait and see.

Pretty sure the Rockets barely beat the Lakers last time we played them, after Kobe missed the game winning 3. And would anyone really be surprised if they got it together and ended up with a top 5 seed?

The Rockets need to start playing Terrence Jones now in my opinion. Dude is 250+, 6'9.5 with a 7'2.25 wingspan. He's a major athlete with serious skills. True, he hasn't looked great so far the few times he's seen the court, but I attribute that to nerves. Give him some time. Supposedly, he's been tearing it up in practice. He also looked great in Dleague.

PF is our weakest link right now. I'm reasonably pleased with what Marcus has been doing in Pat's absence, especially since I wasn't expecting much from him this season due to his poor rookie year, but he's really not a good 1st tier option at PF. He's undersized.

Terrence isn't undersized, and other than consistency with his shot, he has some intriguing skills. He needs to be thrown to the fire for an extended period. We're trading having a few wins now for not having an ideal squad come playoff time. Neither Pat nor Marcus are the answers for us at the 4. We should suck-it-up, just play Terrence, and deal with the growing pains in hopes of having a team better suited for playoff victory. It would also make Terrence that much more ready to come in and make positive contributions next season.

Dmo needs strength/weight so he's not the answer at this point imho.

I consider it a win if we make the playoffs. Remember, this team was picked to be outside the top 8 in the WC.
